Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
The generous addition of hops both during and at the end of the fermentation process (dry-hopping) gives our India Pale Ale its characteristic bitterness and piney citrus aroma and flavor. The medium body, crisp finish, and moderate alcohol and IBU levels makes this one of America’s most drinkable and best-selling IPAs.

It's a decent beer no complaints just nothing special here for an IPA especially with all the competition out there

Bottle, Nov, 2017:
Pours a darker golden; quite clear with maybe the slightest bit of haze. Head isn't huge, but revives easily, some lacing.

Nose has a bit of a stale beer note to it. Piney in a slightly wooden sense, there's a does of dry shredded wheat cereal in a box to it. It's not the newest bottle, but it's not too enticing at this point.

The taste is a little more balanced. There is still that grainy cereal malt opening and backbone, but a decent does of pine wood bitterness joins it early. The two form an earthy, damp fall morning flavor. As it warms a little citrus (orange) comes out to accent, but it's mostly one-noted. A medium to medium light body, it's just a little flat, and there is a lingering bitterness.

So not a bad beer overall, the nose was really sort of a shock and disappointing. The rest of the beer was about as expected.

I will just say up front that I am not a big fan of IPA's because they sometimes can be way overhopped. At least, to me, as that is not my thing. And this beer isn't. To me, its hoppiness is just right so not only do I taste hops (in a moderate amount) but a lot of other flavors as well including some sweetness and maltiness (which admittedly I tend to favor). So I think if your palate runs similar to mine, you will like this beer. Very smooth for an IPA and in no way overpowering. It kept a nice head and the orange and spice flavors complemented each other. Probably a lot more than that going on, I am still new to reviewing beer! I'll definitely drink it again.

Great value for a moderately drinkable IPA. Expected drastically more aroma from a dry hopped beer but I can only slightly get grassy with a little citrus. Taste is overwhelmingly malty with no apparent hop profile other than a faint bitterness. Too much Carmel 20L in my opinion. Feel is very light aside from the maltiness on the tongue. The look is extremely clear, which I personally love. Overall very drinkable, with the value matching. I don't think I would considered this an IPA maybe just an amber or APA.

Not a big IPA, but a very satisfying one. Clean, refreshing, great aroma and taste. Great any time brew. Just hoppy enough and not overly filling.

reminds me more of old school British IPA before the market went crazy for high hops and abv values
form a 1 pint can for $1.69 that alone makes this a good choice

looks crystal clear golden color good head retention
smell grassy citrus with malt
taste slight caramel with hoppy notes. not overly hoppy for abv more of a pale ale level
feel medium mouth feel
overall - for $1.69 you can not go wrong. same price as a bud 16 oz can but infinitely better. A good go to beer

This one tastes like a rather generic IPA. It’s very light on the carbonation. Overall it’s not bad, but there are better IPAs in the same price range.

If I'm in the mood for an IPA, this is one of my favorites, especially since it's not too pricey. I love the Red Hook sampler 12-packs, hard to find around here lately.

The commercial description listed of this beer is a flat out lie for the examples I have tried. There was really not much to the aroma to begin with. A bit of grainy malt. After warming up a bit some floral end citrusy hop notes were barely detectable. Very thin White head, brilliant clarity, and a light gold color. If this IPA truly was Dry-hopped, then the flavor is quite subdued, matching the disappointment of the aroma. Moderately low carbonation for the style, and a medium to medium light body. Halfway decent beer, but I wouldn't go out of my way to try it unless it is extremely fresh.

Little to no aroma for a dry hopped IPA. Gentle bitterness. Just another brewery jumping on the IPA bandwagon. WE DONT NEED ANY MORE BORING IPAs FOLKS. If you fancy an American IPA, don't buy this. English IPA? Maybe nut the fact that they advertise as "dry hopped" means that that was not what they were going for.

Amber color with a little bit of haze. Nice foamy white head that lingers. Soft scents of orange-peel and tangerine, with a hint of pine. Not a lot going on flavor wise. Slight hints of honey and violet. Medium feel, brief palate coating, finish fades quickly.
