Brewed by:
Redhook Ale Brewery
New Hampshire, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.20%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
The generous addition of hops both during and at the end of the fermentation process (dry-hopping) gives our India Pale Ale its characteristic bitterness and piney citrus aroma and flavor. The medium body, crisp finish, and moderate alcohol and IBU levels makes this one of America’s most drinkable and best-selling IPAs.

A good go to beer at the Tavern on R street in Dc. Compared to the Dogfish ipa 60, I prefer this beer. No major noticeable aftertaste like the ipa 60. Just a smooth drinking cheap hop beer! The label is different from the one listed. It's in a different bottle too. A fatty bottle with small top. Has mountains on it and the sky is green and a guy with a hammer in on top of a mt with a hammer advertising RED HOOK in red.

Poured from bottle to pint glass the beer arrives a clear golden straw color with a small 1 finger white head, some retention and lacing but not really much to comment on. Similarly the nose is weak with hints of pine hop character and biscuit malt character. This carries into the taste, which again is weak. Not much character at all. Toasted biscuit malt, mild bitterness, hint of pine in the hop. Finishes crisp and clean. Lighter bodied. Overall, forgettable.

A - Golden pour with a frothy white foam head. Left rings of lacing that clung after the glass was long empty.

S - Smells of spicy hops. Very pleasant and gives a hint of pepper and fresh fruit.

T - Not as good as the beer smells, Long Hammer has a touch of spice and fresh hops. It isn't nearly as crisp or have the finish of a solid IPA.

M - Decent drinker, and went great with some BBQ. Has a little bite at the end.

O - Just a decent IPA. Not disappointing but really another of many generic IPAs out there.

Poured a golden yellow body with a slight haze of orange. Fluffy, ice-cream like 1 1/2 finger head with decent retention.

S- Floral, hops, orange peel, lemon zest and cracked pepper.

T- Bitter/sweet from the moments it splashes the palate till end. The hops do their job and give it a nice hoppy taste, which is balanced by various spices. Tangerine, grapefruit and plenty of earthyness. Good, but a bit more of the bitter side would have been nice.

M- Medium carbonation with a dry finish. Easy to drink.

O- Not bad at all. Could use a few tweeks here and there but overall a nicely brewed IPA.
