Who needs precious metals, when you’ve got Copper?! This copper colored ale is a real crowd-pleaser. Copperhook strikes the perfect balance of smooth, rich, malty flavor you’d expect from a craft brew with a lighter body and hop profile that makes it a perfect “session” beer when you’ve got a long day ahead of knocking back a few with your buddies.

Auburn and copper color, half inch of head. Followed with a mildly nutty and caramel sweet malt aroma.
Taste had the same nuttiness, albeit super mild. Mild sweetness. Lighter body, lightly hopped. This is like if Boston lager was a tad lighter and an ale.

Appearance: Toned copper color, as befits the name, with small but persistent white head. The lacing is fine and scattered, the carbonation sparse and slow-rising.
Aroma: Lightly toasted malt pairs well with grassy hops.
Taste: Opens with toasted and caramel malts, offset by citric and pine hops, overall managing to seem quite balanced. These tastes carry to the close, where there is a light surge of citric and pine hops tp bring the taste to a close.
Mouth feel: Soft, fairly full, pleasant, with a bit of stinging carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: A decent and drinkable example of a familiar style. The ABV at 5.8% seems a little high, but such is the zeitgeist.
Presentation: Packaged in a twelve ounce brown glass long-neck with a pry-off crown, served in a standard pint tap glass.
This review is from handwritten notes ca. April 2007.
