22oz Red Hook-style stub neck bottle, bottled on Dec 09 13. Served in pint glass. Beer is red amber in color and crystal clear, with only a thin white head. Aroma is mainly of fresh hops, like an APA or even an American Micro lager. Or is that aroma actually a different cannabinoid? Hmm.

Flavor is similarly hop-centric, and along with a good crispness, it resembles a good lager more than anything else. There's a little bit of astringency, and not a lot of hemp flavor, at least not compared to...whatever other cannabis ale I had, which admittedly I cannot remember the name of.

Drinkable if not particularly hempy OR special.

Poured from 22oz bomber (an odd bomber -- shaped like a really tall stubby) into a pint glass. Bottle is dated 10/16/13.

Appearance: deep amber-orange hue with a haze-free body and a strong effervescence. Head is a thick finger of frothy tan foam. I think it looks damn good.

Smell: a very basic amber ale aroma. Lightly caramelly with some resiny hops and a lightly funky je ne sais quoi that might indeed be the hemp seeds. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.

Taste: bready, caramelly and a little bit nutty; the hemp seeds are, if anything, subtle. The bitterness is well suited to the balance; this is a pretty solid amber ale.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: I'm not always a fan of ambers, but this is damn drinkable. The hemp seed, if that's what I'm tasting, is quite subtle, but other than the gimmick it's a solid, quaffable amber.

Pours an amber color. Smells good, nice Hemp and hop smell. Solid lacing, but head dissipates fast.good crisp mouthfeel. the Hops and Hemp blend really well. one of the best Hemp ales I've had. Over all pretty awesome, I can see why it flew off the shelves.

Served in straight pint glass. Poured a clean, clear amber color with less than 1/4 inch of off-white head that had low retention and lacing.

The aroma was almost all lightly grainy malts, with just a little bit of citrusy hops. The taste was the same, but the hops were a bit more noticeable, and there was a bitter citrus finish.

The body was full, smooth, even and clean, except for the bitter finish. Drinkability was OK, the beer went down easily and inoffensively. Overall, a pleasant enough beer, but not one that's particularly memorable. Especially if you use the bong tap handle that the beer is poured out of.
