2017 vintage. Poured from 375 mL bottle into tulip.
A: Pours a clear lemon yellow hue with mild carbonation producing a 1/2 frothy/bubbly white head with decent retention, gradually settling to a thin skim.
S: Sour lemon, oak tannins, and fairly strong funk with hints of salt and white pepper.
T: Strong sour lemon tempered by soft oak, farmhouse funk, white grapes, and a hint of softly tart lime. Interesting layers here.
M: Light body. Starts quite sour, then softens with notes of funk and tartness. Hint of salinity. Juicy (citrus) with mildly dry finish.
D: I can only imagine how this started out a year ago...glad there was some time there to soften this down a bit. Refreshingly sour. Good layering/complexity. The oak tannins are lovely. Nice brew!

A corked and caged 12.7 fl. oz. bottle, with no bottled on or best before date. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.

Appearance: A lightly hazy golden yellow colour with a one finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly, but left some nice lacing.

Aroma: Lightly tart, sour, oak, funky, peach, lightly vinous, white grape and lemon.

Taste: Tart, sour, white grape skin, peach, stone fruit, lemon, oak and light funk.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate prickly carbonation.

Overall: Very nice with good aroma and flavours which just make it so easy to drink.

2017 bottle.

Lightly hazed(not cold hazed) dark yellow, initially strong head of foam that shrunk quickly. Excellent lacing.

Smells oaky, vinous, acetic....yeah, sour. Some Brett for sure. This is a nose that I love in American Wild Ales.

Sour grapes, more sour fruit, oak is solid, Brett seems to come and go. Sourness level aboot a 4 out of 5. Acetic level mostly in the finish.

Medium body with lively carbonation.

Excellent example of the style.

Ghosts in the Forest pours a hazy golden color, with a very small, but lacing head. Oakey aroma, with hints of white wine. Flavor is sour, but not too sour, with dry fruits, and a crisp white wine finish; hint of sweetness. Good body and feel. Overall, a strong sour ale, not to overpowering, with a flavor like a white wine.

375ml cork and caged bottle. Served in a DDG teku glass. Pours a hazy and relatively opaque medium golden body, one finger white head, good retention, lots of lacing. Smell is rich oak, bright lemon and citrus, moderate acetic acidity, mild lactic acid, a little sweet biscuit as well. This is a wild ale through and through. Flavour is white grape skin, oak, lemon, citrus zest, moderate acetic acidity, a little bit of peach skin, mild candied sweetness that adds a little substance to the backend. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly dry and touch prickly, refreshing with a substantial sour and sweet finish. One of the best beers TLA has put out in some time.

Completely underated. This beer is as good as DDG and Cable car! Seek and enjoy. I look forward to more of this gem!

This beer pours a pale yellow with a minimal head. The aroma is intense and sour, with notes of gooseberry, underripe peach, barnyard, spicy mustard, white plum, rubber, petrol, and vinegar. The flavor is definitely tart, but not puckering, with notes of crab apple, mustard, verjus, sour green grapes, pineapple, mint, honeycomb, and golden raisin. The motuhfeel is light with moderate carbonation. Overall this is a spectacular and complex sour, presenting such an array of flavors, but all in hints, so that the overall impression is of power but no flavor truly dominates.
