750ml cork & cage bottle poured int a snifter, I believe it's around a 2016 vintage
A- pours viscous jet black color with a one-finger foamy khaki colored head that reduces to a thin film floating on top, some lacing left behind
S- plenty of barrel to be found on the aroma, with notes of wet oak, barrel juice, caramel chews, vanilla bean and toasted coconut. The base beer gives aromas of charred malt, anise, dark chocolate & chocolate covered dark cherry
T- huge barrel notes up front, bursting with barrel juice & oak, followed by some sweet caramel and vanilla. Mid-palate brigs out the base beer with notes of chocolate, brownie batter, anise & dark cherries. The finish is nothing but bourbon, which continues long into the linger
M- medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into a silky, velvety, slightly warming finish
O- I'm not sure how long this was aged, but it's a bourbon bomb. Definitely one for the bourbon sippers

awesome head!!! Roasty aroma!!! Funky 'oldness' flavors as if it had been sitting on a shelf in a hot store for a few years but this is a 2022 edition. and Abbey apparently is still using 26oz bottles that even the defiant and stubborn Bruery finally switched away from in some of their brews.... oh well. not bad. not great. consistent and pleasant. not sure what happened with these guys but i'm assuming basically bad business decisions? They WERE an enigma way back when.... very warm and welcoming industrial building with great followers...... somebody needs to take the reins and put some financial backing into this great brewery!!!

It pours an opaque black color with a long-lasting small-sized brown head. Fewer laces than I expected. Very deep and complex aromas are on the nose. Roasted coffee and licorice come first, woody vanilla and chocolate support in the background. It has a very intense bittersweet taste. Caramel malts, molasses, and vanilla equalize highly bitter coffee-like flavors. In spite of a very high alcohol level, it finishes very soft and slightly warm. Thick and oily-like on the palate. Carbonation is low. Rich, balanced, and smooth. Very enjoyable Imperial Stout.

Did up a roadtrip to The Alchemist yesterday
(07SEP19) for some cans. Was later having a bier at The Reservoir in Waterbury and I checked out the bier menu at The Blackback. Saw this offering listed, so I finished my bier, crossed the street, and took this one in. Cost $7.00 for a 10oz pour.
The small snifter held a dense, opaque, jet black brew. Had a creamy layer of mocha-hued foam , mostly a rim-job, but with lovely lacing. Bourbon was easily evident in the aroma, along with dark choco and roasty notes. Body was medium to medium-plus, and it was quite smooth on the tongue.
Flavor had more dark choco and roasted malts. Had some mocha, ovaltine, oak, molasses, licorice and, naturally, bourbon. Was lightly sweet, with no bitterness whatsoever. Damn tasty!! Zum Wohl!!

Had on tap at LA Confessional in Cardiff. Wow. Excellent draft. Beautiful, smooth and a rich barreled beer. Delicious BBA version of their classic Serpent’s Stout.
