Pitch black, so dark you can't see through it even held to the light. Thought I caught a glimpse of ruby at moments though. No head whatsoever, just a foam of rustiness. It almost stains the glass a rusty hue when twirled around.

Dark toasted notes, almost a fudge quality. Chocolate and black liquorice and hints of disappearing fruit. I get a hint of alcohol as well.

Dark and chocolaty, chocolate fudge, liquorice, hints of oak and whiskey, coffee and chocolate milk, and the spirit of fruitcakes past. A little burn in the throat.

Very smooth body for such a heavy brew. Slightly oily. Light, foamy carbonation.

Got this in Santa Rosa, CA. Drinking in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Really unique brew, my first from Lost Abbey. Been looking forward to trying this brewer for a long time. A lot like an imperial stout, with only subtle differences.

Opened a bottle from 2014. It pours pitch black and very viscous. Almost no carbonation. Smells of raisins, vanilla, cherries, bourbon, and a meaty type aroma (umami). Taste is dark fruits, vanilla, bourbon, and a hint of soy. Mouth feel is super slick with almost no carbonation. Overall, this was worth the wait. I was pretty sure this beer was too hot for me fresh and I just found it in the back of my beer stash, nice find.

Very interesting taste bourbon stout and the fruity coconut mixture. Great rich brown color with a small head and just the right amount of carbination. The aroma is very light.

Pours a totally opaque black with little to no foam. Nose is sweet dark caramel and candied fruit with hint of bourbon. Taste is very smooth. Up front it is moderately bitter, lots of rich flavors, toffee, chocolate, molases, etc This starts to fade and then sweetness takes over towards the end, not overpoweringly so, beer finishes with a hint of bourbon bite. Quite lovely and a great sipper.
