Nose: Coconut & vanilla from bourbon barrel aging, roasted malts, dark fruits, chocolate.
Taste: Big malts, vanilla, coffee, oak, chocolate. Not getting much of the brandy barrel aging from the Angel's Share half of the mix.

I've had it on tap at the brewery and loved it. The latest bottle I had seemed flat in comparison. I have a 2014 vintage cellaring. Hopefully it'll still hold its (albeit limited) carbonation after a few months to a year in the cellar.

As soon as the cork pops off Deliverance a gentle CO2 cloud creeps out of the bottle smelling faintly of bourbon and brandy. It pours a velvety black with a brown creamy head. Deliverance tastes of bourbon, brandy, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, oak and cinnamon.

Pitch black with nothing more than a light tan ring and some alcohol legs. Notes of bitter dark chocolate, espresso, bourbon, fig, date, over ripe black cherry, brandy, light oak and vanilla. Medium body, lighter than expected, low carbonation and a very lush feel that works its way to coat the entire palate. Fantastic beer. I sat on this one for over a year and opened it on my sons birthday as a night cap. Great finisher to a great day. Great dessert beer with powerful and complex flavor.

Poured from bottle into snifter. Pours flat black, no head. Smell is sulfur, booze, stale. Taste is molasses, booze, oxidation, disappointment? Feel is kind of thin. Overall, it tastes medicinal. Not entirely bummed, I got the bottle on deep discount and had been wanting to review it.

12.7 oz bottle. Pours black with no head, thin ring that leaves spoyy lace. Aroma is a bit boozy with bourbon bad brandy overtaking roasted notes. Taste is intense, fairly complex with cherry, wine notes, light smoke, raisins, all surrounded by brandy and booze. Very tasty as a sipper. Mouthfeel is thin to medium but slick. Very good brew, would drink (or preferably split) another one in a heartbeat.

Appearance-wise, this beer makes a bold statement. It is gives up a bit of dotted lace, then becomes a monolithic black with a narrow ring of bubbles around the glass on top of the beer. Aroma is supreme - really a world class combo of whiskey, malt and toffee. This is one of the best out there in terms of how it smells. Taste is not as complex as I expected, but is still very good. Mouth feel is lacking. I really would have expected a fuller, more robust mouth full. It could use a little more carbonation too. Overall very good, but this is in a crowded space. I am glad I had it and wish I could have another. :)

What I would like to call a motor oil beer, I was expecting something a little lighter, but pours a thick slugedy black. Vanilla notes, lots of raisin and soy sauce. Nice beer but expect something heavy and full bodied.

Another solid showing from The Lost Abbey. Not sure if I like this one better than the angels share alone though. Boozy up front like most of their higher abv beers are. Seems like they like to hit you with the booze hard. Can definitely taste both the bourbon and brandy. Great beer but high price point, $15.99 for 12.7oz
