On-tap at FoBAB 2011. Served in the accompanying taster pint. Thanks Tomme for remembering us up here in Chicago!

A - Thin white foam settles to a thick collar and some wisps, leaving behind minimal lacework. Hazy white peach flesh body.

S - Smells exactly like it was described - peaches, sour blonde base beer, & wine barrels. White wine vinegar, mild yogurt, and tons of fresh peaches. Oak character is quite mild, and funk (and thankfully sulfur) is minimal.

T - Taste lacks some of the acetic punch of the aroma - this actually tastes a lot like peach cobbler, with some yogurt mixed in. There's some light vinous character, and a bit of lemon tartness, but this isn't intensely puckering (yet). The peach flavor is delicious, but the depth is a bit lacking.

M - Medium bodied, with medium carbonation, and a dry, crisp, lightly tannic finish. Quite refreshing, with no trace of the (probably incorrect) ABV.

D - It's a very good sour that I could consume in large quantities. I suspect it will be even better in 6-12 months as some of the souring bacteria take hold. Comparison to Veritas 004 is unfair, but I could imagine this being the "poor man's" Yellow Bus in time.

Revisited this in February 2012 thanks to largadeer. It's quite excellent now - verging on A+ territory.

Excellent release. Poured at the Lost Abbey Barrel Night into an LA tulip glass - dark orange yellow, little carb. Not sticky.

V10 accomplishes a difficult task. The key elements are strong and satisfying without becoming overpowering at any point - with the first snort n' sip the peach scent and flavor are distinctive without citric bitterness. The end comes on sour, but only moderately. It's far from the blanket of tartness that a good vinegar-strength lambic can throw over your tongue.

In the middle there's a note that I don't recognize. Something in the middle between funk and almost a chocolate flavor. A touch of wood, maybe? Not sure, but it's a nice transition between the fruit and sour.

To sum, a delicate and restrained beer but with distinctive flavors that last on the tongue. Very happy with this one.
