Bottle graciously shared by Alewatcher a few weeks back. This was one of the highlights of a very impressive night.

A - Pours a pale straw color with floaters in my glass (white/chunky yeast) - earlier pours were pretty damn clear though. Short white head, spotty leggy lace.

S - Dusty must, lemon and peach... I mean a ton of fresh watery peach. This was really exceptional, though I was missing the assertive sour punch that would have truly propelled this into the next realm of greatness.

T - Sweet with a light fruit flavor up front like a nice fruity white wine. Flavors of pineapple, citric sweet white grapefruit, as well as tangerine. (Sadly the peach I was loving in the aroma didn't carry through to the flavor.) Then a nice tartness kicks in. Never outright sour or puckering, but it is the balance and nuance that make this beer shine out as something caringly crafted.

M - Nice carbonation (possibly the biggest fear we shared at the onset of opening this). Tart and juicy. The tartness grows slowly at first until your mouth begins to water at the thought of taking the next sip.

O - Really a delicious beer. I'd love to have this again sometime.

Excellent release. Poured at the Lost Abbey Barrel Night into an LA tulip glass - dark orange yellow, little carb. Not sticky.

V10 accomplishes a difficult task. The key elements are strong and satisfying without becoming overpowering at any point - with the first snort n' sip the peach scent and flavor are distinctive without citric bitterness. The end comes on sour, but only moderately. It's far from the blanket of tartness that a good vinegar-strength lambic can throw over your tongue.

In the middle there's a note that I don't recognize. Something in the middle between funk and almost a chocolate flavor. A touch of wood, maybe? Not sure, but it's a nice transition between the fruit and sour.

To sum, a delicate and restrained beer but with distinctive flavors that last on the tongue. Very happy with this one.
