Also known as Komes Porter Baltycki
KOMES PORTER reflects the history of brewing, referring to the 18th century tradition of brewing porters in the Baltic states. At their prime, Baltic porters represented one third of the market, which is the best evidence of their popularity. We offer you a well-balanced, dark, strong beer with a distinct flavour. Slow fermentation at low temperatures in open vats, coupled with long (at least 3 months) maturation have resulted in the beer’s character and complete, complex nature. The Porter’s bouquet matures further in the bottle. Time is on its side.
Bronze Medal at the World Beer Cup 2014.
Gold Medal at the European Beer Star 2013 for best beer in the Baltic Porters category

Pours a garnet hued, very dark brown/black when held to the light. The pour produces 2+ fingers of tight bubbled, short-lived, mocha head that recedes to a thin surface and collar ring, leaving minimal lace as it recedes. Aroma is deeply roasted malt, bitter chocolate, prune, dried fig and toast with a thin smokey hint. Taste is bittersweet chocolate, roast and burnt bread with notes of dark fruit, molasses/toffee, an earthy mustiness and a faint hint of diacetyl (but in a nice way). The aftertaste is crawling with bitter chocolate, dark fruits and char. The alcohol is very well concealed for a 9% ABV. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy bodied, moderate carbonation, smooth fronted, silky and slightly creamy with a grainy finish. Very nice.

One is the best beers I've had. Nice and malty with a decent clean balanced hop flavor. Dark & strong. A little pricier than I usually go for bit worth it.

Beautiful dark liquid with a decent head. Head quickly dissipated. Lace is lacking though.
Taste of strong roasted malts. Easy to drink but the 9.0 ABV will sneak upon on you.
One of there better porters that I have had.

Dark brown, almost black in color with an opaque head
Smells heavy of caramel, roasty notes, and bitter chocolate. On the pallet there is much of the same but it gets sweet towards the end. Overall a delicious medium to medium heavy body Baltic porter that is a great example of the style.

The pour is umber brown with a frothy tan head of foam. The taste is dark chocolate, cigar char, caramel, & mild raisin note. Cheers! A-

Always liked a Baltic Porter especially one from the old world. Can't make sense of the date code, 62/07/22/1, but I am guessing it is at least from 2022. This beer is dry, light roast, light smoke, with a distinctive European lager flavor. Notes of anise and dark fruit. Alcohol is well hidden.

From a 500ml bottle with a meaningless-to-me lot stamp. Served in a tulip.
Pours cola-brown with two fingers of soft lathery foam. The head stands up for a minute or so before settling back to a wispy cap, a thick, creamy collar and a rousable sheet of tattered lacing.
Nose is mildly sweet and tangy. Aroma of molasses sweetened coffee, Hershey’s cocoa, apple juice.
Taste has a smooth, lightly roasted, fruity bean character with sugar-water thinness. Tasting chocolate taffy, instant coffee crystals, graham cracker and apple. Very little alcohol evident, it’s a slightly ashy but otherwise clean finish.
Feel is smooth and creamy, relatively light bodied with fine, gentle carbonation.
Overall, a decent enough, clean-drinking, light-bodied Baltic porter. More fruity, almost wine-like, than roasty. Had I not read the label, I would have pegged the abv at about 2/3’s of what’s stated.
