"A primitive-style sour beer, brewed completely with NYS grown ingredients. Golden colored with intense notes of straw and funk"

Growler filled at the brewery this afternoon. Pours clouded, dull tangerine, sturdy off white head that fades to a spotted film, thin collar and typical moderate scattered lace.

Some ripe fruit and vinegar on the nose.

This is the most sour and puckering beer I recall coming out of the Peekskill brewery. It is quite tart, definitely acidic, with more then moderate vinegar in the mix.

If sour is your thing, its well worth a try. Not the kind of beer where you will have to taste it and taste to get the sour notes, its a full out sour assault that will have you puckering.More sour to my palate then "funky"

Hope to enjoy some of this on a hot summer day with some peppery cheese and vinaigrette dressed salads..

Crisp, flavorful, sophisticated and refreshing stuff.

On tap at Peekskill.

Slightly cloudy, golden-yellow color, with a small cap of white head; moderate retention and lacing. In the nose, light hints of grassy must, candied fruits. I'm not really sure what they were shooting for in this beer, nor am I sure the label of "saison" is correct for this, but I got flavors of cider and cherry Sweet Tarts, light pale malt sweetness in the background, with a grassy / earthy finish. Pretty interesting, actually. Light body, prickly mouthfeel, even with the lower carbonation. Good overall.

The beer has a huge stale aroma. It smells of lemon, basement, funk, attic.

The flavor has lemon, but also a "basement" flavor that makes the beer seem a bit stale, earhty funk, foot-like, and stinkiness. There's a stiff tart quality and a touch of sweetness and malt.
