The copper color of this India Pale Ale hints at the strong malt character needed to support the huge hoppy flavors and defining bitterness of this classic beer.

L: cloudy amber white head that clings to glass.
S: predominantly grapefruit.
T: light. Could have used more hoppy flavor and bitterness. Had on draft. Slight tin flavor.
F: medium body. Enjoyable. Coats pallet.
O: for restaurant beer it was ok.

The appearance is a golden/somewhat amber colored body with a moderate amount of carbonation that is seen rising, one finger white foamy head, light lacing surrounding the glass. The aroma has a strong malty presence up front with some hops trying to make a strong secondary take, but mainly stay subdued. The taste is sweet through the malts, sweet sticky aftertaste and finish. On the palate, its about a light to medium, somewhat sessionable, carbonation seems to be right on for the style and for me. Overall, is this really an English IPA, really? Seemed more of an English pale ale to me.

On tap at a Granite City location. Not doing a full review because the beer isn't in front of me, just some notes. Not much hops smell or taste, and the hop profile is more traditional pine than new school citrus. Plenty of malt backbone, but overall a but muddled in execution. Medioce at best
