Famous for its rich amber color and medium-bodied flavor with roasted caramel malt for a subtle sweetness and a combination of Cluster and Cascade hops, this true original delivers a well-balanced taste with very distinct character. Born from a historic recipe that was resurrected in 1987, Yuengling Traditional Lager is a true classic.

Finally in Wisconsin (live in MN but access is only a stones throw away). Missed this when I was living in Indianapolis. Not fancy, just satisfying.

Not one to degrade beers, as this review will not damage the beer's reputation at all. Personally I think there is something cruddy or foul floating/hiding in the beer. I can barely drink two without a nasty allergic response. Even worse than Budweiser or Steel Reserve for that matter. One of my all time worst blackouts in my late 20's occurred from a Yuengling keg party. I really do not believe it was simply alcohol poisoning alone. Maybe there is industrial cleaner or other residual material hiding in the beer. Awhile back I took the brewery tour in Tampa and found it to be dismal and filthy. Reminded one of an old war submarine at port intended for tourists to visit. They even had recipes and test tubes sitting out on tables during the tour itself and not to mention the tour guide made tasteless negative jokes against Schlitz (since that used to be Schlitz's brewery). The taste is not that bad, the appearance is kind of a joke, but since I believe that beer must be sessioned to be fully rated, the nastiness (imo) in Yuengling over-rules any positive rating. And it is over-priced and generally aimed at the golfer types and upper class light drinkers who have found it an acceptable beer to present to their colleagues, similar to how Stella Artois is marketed as superior or "craft". Budweiser may not be a great beer either, but their breweries are sanitary.

Pretty amber in color, thin head disappears fast. Smells like cashews, weird but I like it. Caramel malts in the flavors with a hint of toast and biscuits. Much more flavorful that the mainstream American lagers. Good mouthfeel, very balanced. For what it is, this is a good beer that suits its purpose well.

FINALLLY IN IOWA!!! It showed up all over hyvee and liquor stores. Decent amber color with a sweet taste. Not bad at all. I've had it in cans and bottles. I obviously recommend from a glass bottle.

16 oz. can pours a clear dark amber color with lasting white head but not much lacing. Aroma is mostly caramel malts, some nuts, and just enough hops. Taste is slightly sweet. Body is light to medium with average carbonation. A flavorful easy drinker, worth the extra cost over the most popular American lagers.

Nice smooth drinking amber lager. It has a good hop presence without being overly hoppy. There is more here than most average lagers but not so much that you can’t drink a couple. For me this one hits a sweet spot for drinkablity and enjoyment.

Beautiful amber color, head recedes quickly, Cascade hop aroma combined with green glass effect gives a slight skunky odor from bottle. Nice caramel notes, a great American amber lager

Being from the Tri-State area I'm inherently biased by nostalgia, as Yuengling has been our ubiquitous house beer the entire duration of my life. One of the better macros you can buy. Beautiful amber color with notes of copper, caramel and hop bitterness.

Look: had a pint with the BFP (big fun pretzel) at the East Troy House, Wisconsin It was a very cold pint... The pint port very clear... It had sufficient head and began to lace on the first four or five drinks... It goes down smooth.

Smell: smell malty, and an earthy hop... Sometimes it's hard to pick up a good smell when you're in a restaurant that has good food...

Taste: good malt backbone nice hop balance... I was a little impatient and a little bit thirsty to let it warm to the appropriate temperature... It's an Amber Lager... Clean and Malty

Mouthfeel: Refreshing Malty nice CO2 bite.

Overall:Pretty darn good for an Amber lager.

I'm glad Yeungling is finally available in MKE!

It's a great alternative to yellow macrobrews like Coors, High Life, and Bud.
