A very good light beer. I think the brown bottle does a lot to help it with its taste. Yuengling uses green bottles for other beer they make and I suggest to them - STOP!! This light has all the flavor of a regular lager, but less calories!! I tried a blind taste to see if I could tell it from several other regular beers. I am not an expert, but I had a hard time telling it apart. Very good flavor and a very good taste!!

10/2016 - real bad news - they use GMO corn in their brew. Sorry, I cant go for that, regardless of the reason(s) they give. Corporations say GMO is "not bad". Sure, I believe them, remember how cigarette companies said cigarettes werent bad for us???

Yuengling Premium Light Beer brewed by Yuengling Brewery, with an ABV of 3.50% This brew pours out a nice amber color with a nice white head. The smell is nice with grains and malts. You pick up a hit of hops in this brew. Now for the taste, it is light, but bold with flavor. There is a lot going on in this light brew. The mouthfeel is nice, clean, and refreshing. There is nothing overpowering in Yuengling Premium Light Beer. This brew has a nice balance to it. Overall I'm going Yuengling Premium Light Beer a 4.25 out 5 I would buy this brew again.

DATE TASTED: December 7, 2013... GLASSWARE: Michelob pilsner...OCCASION: Championship Saturday in the NCAA... APPEARANCE: typical straw-gold body of effervescence; white,, thin head that smears atop the bubbles; streaky lacing... AROMA: high-pitched oat and corn, with some fragrant bubblegum hops--inoffensive... PALATE: smooth, mega-drinkable; gassy, bubbly and brief in its substance...TASTE: astringently malty, thin, with a profile of a sweetened light beer; not memorable or substantial...OVERALL: as Yuenglings go, on the bottom rung; Solo cup filler, but much less a party staple than the original lager...

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a light golden color with a big billowy head of a fizzy white foam. The head fades super quickly, leaving a tiny trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a corny sweet smell mixed with some aromas of a light grassy smell and a bit of a skunky smell.

Taste – The taste begins with a slightly bready and slightly caramel sweetened flavor. As the taste advances the breadiness decays with a sweeter corn and rice flavor replace the breadiness. Some other flavors of a grassy and more papery flavor come to the tongue more toward the end of the taste, with the mix of flavors ending up leaving a crisp, but somewhat bland and dry flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer, for a light beer, is surprisingly heavy (although still light overall) with a carbonation level that is rather high. Oddly, the thicker body was actually fairly decent for the brew, as while the beer doesn’t have too much flavor it doesn’t have too many off flavors either, so the thicker body supports better the lighter flavors of the brew all while the higher carbonation is nice for the more refreshing and crisp characteristics of the beer.

Overall – Well for a light beer, it is kind of run of the mill to slightly above so. Crisper and somewhat refreshing, but lacking of substantial flavor and any real degree of complexity.

Deep golden yellow to amber in color. Just a ring of white head. Visible carbonation.

Sweet malty nose with straw and bready characters.

Some decent malt character throughout the beer. Something slightly artificial but I cannot put a finger on it. Easy drinking and hard to tell that it is only 3.5abv.

Less character than the amber lager but it isn't trying to stand up to the amber.

Medium hop bitterness and a clean aftertaste. As far as light lagers this holds up. Nothing to write home about but nothing wrong.

This beer poured out as a clear looking yellow color with a fizzy white head on top. The lacing was light not much retention. The smell was sweet, a little grainy some lager yeast in there too. The taste had some corn flavors in there, sweet grains and a faint bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel was light, nicely carbonated and very easy to drink. Overall I was glad I got to try this one as I haven't seen this one around much. I feel this one is better than the light lager.

A-dark gold with a thin white head.

S-sweet honey and roasted grains. Fresh smelling

T-comes in with almost no taste. Some sweet honey. Some grains. Very crisp. Better than most light lagers. Not much here

M-medium creamy carbonation and a crisp finish

O-pretty good for a light beer. No almost no taste to it, but its quaffable.

Served i a pint glass.

Appearance: Darker gold light bubbles on the body, with a head that dissipates after a few to maybe 1/8" after rising to about 3/4".

Smell: Ehh, dry hops if that but is has a weak (light) smell to it.

Taste: Light yeast with no complaints on my end. Just wish it was more hop flavored but then again it is a light beer.

Mouth: Maybe a little dry but not bad at all with it's medium maybe light carbonation

Overall one of the few light beers out there that has a light yeast taste and for that I do really like it. It is easy on the palates and when your looking for a a go to or a fail safe this just might be it. Salud!

Compared in conjunction with Yuengling Premium.

appearance: pours a clear, golden yellow, well-carbonated, with foamy head that leads to a similar lacing; more foamy than the bubbly Premium.

smell: crisp, corn notes and slight hop bitterness, lacking the buttery notes of the Premium.

taste: begins watery, corn malts and light hops bitterness, finishes as such.

overall: light pilsner, nothing to knock, yet nothing spectacular, very good casual drinkability.

I had this can of beer in a "Yuengling Porter" goblet

A: This beer pours a pale yellow collor with a fading head

S: This beer has a small hint of barley to it

T: This beer has a tast of corn and malts to it.

M: This beer has no bitter taste and goes down smooth

O: This is a beer that I will buy again

I was at one of the local bottle shops today and picked this up as a single. I have had it in a CAN before, so I knew that I would not want more than one.

Once more, we have an example of Greg Koch's "fizzy yellow beer" and I poured it into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass. The glass really helped with head retention and I had a little over a finger of creamy, bone-white head. Color was a pale lemon yellow with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled heavily of cereal adjuncts. Blah! Mouthfeel was somewhat thin and the taste was fairly bland. I was definitely not impressed. Finish was likewise bland, watery and dull. This is one of my least favorite styles, even less than AMLs and AALs, both staples of The CANQuest (TM) and this was a pretty light example.

12 oz.

Pours pale gold yellow with sudsy white head.

Smells of mild barley and corn sugar.

Tastes like corn adjunct. Hints of other malt, maybe.

Medium mouthfeel, bubbly carbonation.

I'll say this, at least it retains a level of flavor on par with the regular version. And its miles better than something like a Bud Light. I guess if you have to have a light beer, I can't think of a better one. But it's still a light beer. Easy enough to drink but not very good.

The only light beer I've ever had that tastes like beer. Nice maltiness (not abundant, but more than, say, a Bud Light).

My preference in beers tends toward the British Isles, especially Scotch Ales, so malt is what I crave. I've been forced to drink crap like Bud Light because that's what one of my drinking buddies likes (this is WV, and exposure to real beers is at a minimum), but that's just me being sociable. You don't have to force me to drink Yuengling Light, for when I want lower ABV, so I can spend an afternoon putzing around on the deck, this beer more than adequately fits the bill. Regular Yuengling's is my fav American macro, and the light comes in neatly behind.

poure into a glass mug at a restaurant the color was a medium gold with only 1/4 inch of white head building. disappeared fast and left little lacing.
very little smell, if anything a little grain.
taste very weak and watery. Maybe some bread, grain, little malt, little hops at the end.
very light bodied, a typical mass production lager.

Can into Great Lakes pint glass.

White head and very nice golden color. Bubbles racing to the top. Some lacing left on the glass.

Beery. Grainy and a bit sweet.

Taste good. Crisp. Bready with a touch of hops.

Nice and smooth. Good hint of carbonation.

Outstanding. Good flavor and not filling. Low ABV takes it to another level.

Amazing light beer and value. Another workmanlike, good beer from Yuengling.

A- pale straw yellow with thin white head, lots of carbonation bubbles, watery, no lace.

S- grainy, corn, cereal, grassy, faint notes of lemony citrus hops. I bumped it up from the 2.0 I was going to give it for being super boring just because Yuengling was smart enough to use a brown bottle to keep the skunk out unlike their premium.

T- Follows the nose, watery, grainy, corn, touch of lemon

M- Light, crisp and refreshing. Watery, thin and over carbonated.

D- Easy to drink, just boring and bland.

Reviewed from notes.

Pours a very light straw color with a bit of a white head. Th nose brigs some grain, grass, and a bit of corn. Taste is moderately sweet with grass and grain elements. Light feel with fairly high carbonation. His goes down easy and does not have any real off flavors, it is simply quite light.

Pours a brilliant straw in color, topped with a white head of good duration. Minimal lacing here.

Nose is, well, lemony, sweet, and a bit fusel all at once. No hop presence in the nose.

First sip is WHOA! Cidery, lemony, and a touch sweet. There's also a cola-like flavor, and it reminds me of Diet Rite(TM).

Average mouthfeel, and in fact this is the best part of this beer.

The flavor detracts from the drinkability here, big time.

This is nothing that I'd pay for, but I've "enjoyed" worse beer from many a brewer in the past, so I'd probably drink this if someone shoved it into my hand : )

Purchased at the ABC store in New Smyrna Beach and "enjoyed" on Sept. 6, 2010 before my supper.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle.

Appearance: Pours a pale gold body with a thick head that gently recedes to 1 finger with no lacing.

Smell: Cereal & corn mostly plus something slightly off. Skunky a bit maybe? Thankfully, it's just a little bit.

Taste: Bland corn taste with not much flavor going for it. Not offensive but not pleasant either.

Mouthfeel: Very watery with a clammy feel to it. Not very good.

Drinkability: It goes down easy like water but the taste or lack thereof made me drainpour the rest.

Overall: Very boring & lifeless. Flavored water with an off-putting taste. Pass!

Got this one from WoodyChandler...

Pours a very fizzy straw color with 4+ fingers of pearl colored head. Below average head retention & even less lacing

S: Sweet bread, some grassyness

T: Slight soapyness, sweetness & light metallic hops up front. Cornyness, slight grassy hops & water as this warms, plus some dryness. Finishes fairly dry & grassy, somewhat crisp as well

MF: Light body, fairly firm carbonation, thins out a bit once warm

Drinks alright, nothing to get excited about, but nothing too nasty either. I could do 1 or 2 on a Summer's day if pressed...

I am reviewing this beer for what it is, a Lite Beer. It isn't a 'rip your face off' IPA or a thick, chewy RIS, it is lawnmower/picnic beer.

It is clear, cold, carbonated, and beats BMCs typical offerings soundly. In my area, south central PA, you can get the stuff for about $13 a case on sale. When the weather turns colder, I'll be happy to turn back to heavier stuff, but right now in this 100 degree heat it is working for me.

Poured from a 12oz CAN into a 20oz imperial pint. Special thanks to woodychandler for this from our recent trade!

A: Pours a pale yellow color. A 1/2 finger of bright white head stuck around for a quick second before evaporating completely. All that was left was a sticky ring.

S: Slightly sweet, roasted corn and a tiny amount of lemon-y hops. Has an almost damp paper type aroma.

T: Sweet toasty malt and roasted corn along with some citrus hops during the finish.

M: Pretty smooth with a bit of a hoppy prickle. Not nearly as thin as I expected.

D: Drinks pretty good, but with a lager as good as Premium Beer available year round (and not much higher in abv) I'd go for that every time.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of, well, nothing. Taste is also missing for the most part, some gentle notes of malt and corn. Feels light in the mouth and is very drinkable, good for beer games. Overall this is a very mediocre light beer.

Had to try this PA beer. "Lager" is a staple around here so this distant cousin should be OK, right? Appearance was light and fizzy, somewhat yellow. Smell was almost nonexistant as was the taste. Then again it's light. Mouthfeel was thin as you'd expect. Drinkability was high and this would be a perfect summer yardwork beverage. The 3.5% would make it easy to drink all day and still be able to mow or play volleyball. Would choose this over a mass produced brew just for the PA factor.
