This is a boring style of beer, and Yuengling's Light Lager is quite a boring beer. With that said, it is the best boring light lager I've had. I am not sure quite how to rate this, as it's both boring and fantastic considering its style.

I don't know why you would want to get a light lager, but this is among the best out there.

Well, it looks like Yuengling, and it smells like Yuengling. It also manages to taste like regular Yuengling (despite the corny touches, it has that stone fruit-laden midtaste down pat), though the finish is pretty damn watery. Still, it has more flavor than the other light crap on the market. It's well carbonated and not insubstantial feeling (especially impressive if it's actually 3.2% like BA says) - this one is practically made for chugging. If you have to have a light beer, this is the one to get. I'm giving this a 4 overall because despite having mediocre singular elements, it comes together to become an exemplary example of a bad style. Whatever that means.

3.09/5: Best light lager ever?

After trying this beer while working in the US, I found it to be full bodied for an American light beer. I have tried many brands of light beer, and most of the drink like seltzer water. The balance of sweetness and bitters made this beer one of my favorite American Beers, just one step under Sam Adams light. I also like its low alcohol by volume, which is good for people that require lower alcohol beer. A satisfactory beer for my taste, although it is a very wet beer, compared to my favorite, Asahi Super Dry.

for what it IS (a light lager...), not bad at all! actually, GOOD (compared to the superMacros). still has a bit of red and that makes it a little more unique than other 'lites'...i've had these before but never focused on it.

smell is not sweet at all...a bit of sourness, very appealing, though of course, i'd like more intensity. that's not what this was designed for. i have to remember that (to be FAIR and not compare this to hot rods and hop rides....that just explode...) this is a small MACRO offering.

taste/mouthfeel is very refreshing, a sort of sour dough (light...) that is AT LEAST 'flavorable'...went really well with my dad's pasta fasul zuppa...quenched my thirst, washed down that pleasant overdose of homegrown and grinded red pepper.

all in all, i wouldn't normally buy this (i just don't DO light beers unless offered one or it's in a variety pack). easy to drink for sure. still, light beers are almost an oxymoron and are, by nature, handicapped. and that's ok. they serve a purpose like decaf coffee...and even NA 'beers'....but this is a fine and standup brew. will have to compare this to Sam Adams Light whenever i get offered one.

edit addendum note: an A- here is not the same as an A- elsewhere...this is judging it as it is as well as keeping in mind what a LIGHT beer 'is'...for what it is, this is pretty darn solid.

also, i will try and review the CAN version of this...can versions are simply NOT the same beer. never has been for me.

Appearance: Pours a clean amber, with attractive head of near white suds, and lovely lace.

Aroma: Corny, malty, yet with a hint of fruitiness and hops in there. Well-done American amber/lager.

Taste: Malty but definitely not watery or watered down. There is actually plenty of flavor here, in a light beer body. I can drink these with no problem anytime. Well-done.

This is a very enjoyable light beer. Pours almost a clear yellow, with an average head. The smell has a very light hint of grain and malt. The taste is crisp and kind of creamy, however it is very smooth. This is a light beer with a very decent flavor, however the low alcohol content is kind of a turn off because it takes awhile to just get a buzz off these.

Yuengling Light Lager, been meaning to try this one for a while, finally picked up a 12 pack. They recently changed the packaging and Yuengling Light Lager is in a brown bottle like Yuengling Premium, which I thought was odd. Anyway...

Look: Holy Shit! I reviewed Shiner Light Blonde a while ago, thinking it was the best looking light beer there's ever been, and now I see this? Imagine pouring 3/4 of a Yuengling Traditional in a glass then 1/4 Budweiser. That's the color, a little lighter copper tone than Yuengling Traditional. Same 1-1 1/2 finger head when poured into a pint glass.
Smell: smells a little corny like Miller High Life, a hint of sweet and toasty malt. Slight floral hop but barely notable. Kinda like an AAL but no trace of alcohol and stronger scents of malt/hop.
Taste: actually pretty good. Not bad for a light, I blind taste tested my wife who tastes a few of my beers (rarely drinks a whole one unless it's Yuengling, Shiner Bock or a couple others), and asked her what she thought it was. She said Yuengling. It starts off like a Yuengling, malty and a little sweet, somewhat floral, easing into a bitter (somewhat hop tasting) end, the only difference is that this one finishes lighter with less aftertaste.
Feel: medium-medium light body, medium carbonation, finishes pretty light. Heavier feeling than most light Lagers.
Overall: not as good a Yuengling Traditional, and with that one being a 4.4 ABV brew (already close to the standard 4.1-4.3 ABV for light Lagers), this one comes in at 3.5 ABV, MUCH lower than a standard beer, and a lot lower than a standard light, which is somewhat a disappointment. I'm not going to be changing over to Yuengling Light Lager as my go-to beer for my beer softball league this year (Yuengling Traditional Lager still exists for the same price, often cheaper since it can be sold in a 24 pack and that's how I usually get it), but it's a good Lager and a damn good Light Lager. Good job, Yuengling.

Drank from bottle, avoid drinking this from a can it is not the same experience.

Taste - light hop barley and malt flavors, very watery, taste similar to amstel light but more barley flavor than hop

Feel - not too acidic, a very fine brew and drink, great feel. Much better than yeungling traditional, and my favorite domestic light beer

Beer from the can into a glass. Pours a deep golden with slight orange hues. Not quite as dark as the Traditional Lager but surely darker than the average light lager. The head grows rapidly, quite fizzy, moreso than the regular lager, and retention is worse, quite low, with a spot or two of lace. Yet for a light lager, this is visually quite a good brew. The scent has straw and citrus hops to it, very little malt, which is actually a positive here as there is not a cereal quality to the nose.

The taste echoes the nose, no malt to be had, allowing the hops to pop here, this actually tastes like a pretty decent pilsner (even if it is supposed to be a light amber lager - a category which does not actually exist). No real off flavors to be mentioned, this is surprisingly good. The ABV is also truly sessionable (though this may or may not be good for the light lager crowd). The body is expectedly light, and fizzy like sparking water. This is almost like a hop soda.

Overall one of the most appealing light lagers I have had. Hats off for this one, I think it is better than the Traditional Lager.

12oz can, date stamp 16260120930. Served in a shaker pint glass.

Appearance: Clear pale copper color. Initial 1/4" white foam died back to nothing with no lacing noted.

Smell: A bit malty with some roasted malt. An occasional whiff of corn.

Taste: Grainy, hint of roasted malt, corn, and a mild bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Thin, approaching fizzy.

Overall / Drinkability: A definite no frills beer, but for a light beer more flavorful than what I was expecting. It does remind me of the normal Yuengling, just less intense. Not something I would want to drink a lot of, but compared to other light beers I've had, not too bad. Good looking, pleasant smell, not tasteless, but nothing special.

Surprisingly flavorful for a light beer, and very drinkably smooth without veering into blandness, and no bitterness whatsoever. Nothing amazingly special, but you'd know that when you see the word "light." The colder, the better. Will definitely be buying again.

Smells a little nutty like peanut butter with a surprising maltiness. Pours to a light golden color with hardly any head that dissapears fast. Taste is malty but light with a slightly tarty and crisp hoppiness but really no bitterness to speak of. Has good body and the carbonation gives it a fizz but still a little thin. This is a tastier beer than I was expecting when I saw it was light. Being a 3.4% beer I am even more impressed. You can drink this stuff all day long. Great flavor. For the style it is incredible. This blows the doors off any BMC light, or BMC for that matter. For the price its a steal.

OIf thing before I write my review- I am reviewing this beer in comparison only to other light beers.

Appearance- A light amber color, really actually impressive looking for this category. Lots and lots of carbonation clinging to the side of the glass.

Smell- like nothing lol. Very light smell, slightly grassy maybe? Smells like lime seltzer water.

Taste- like seltzer almost lol. More flavor than Bud light or Coors light, that's for sure, but it's like someone added club soda to Yuengling's traditional lager. Not too bad actually, very very refreshing after a long day roofing.

Mouthfeel-light body with heavy heavy carbonation, too much for my taste, but still not terrible, and very refreshing still.

Overall- a decent light brew. Very refreshing, better than any BMC light beers. If I am going to drink a light beer though, Sam Adams make a phenomenal light brew. If that's unavailable, give me a yuengling light lager.

Got a can of this for free on my recent Florida vacation. Poured out of a can into a standard pint glass, this beer pours a very clear, medium amber color with several streams of little bubbles fairly rapidly and continually rising to the beer's surface. Has a white, foamy head that's about an inch thick when first served that settles to a big cluster swirl of foam floating on the beer's surface. Barely any trace of lacing here whatsoever. Aromas of toasted, slightly bready/biscuit caramel malt sweetness and a light touch of hops. The taste is pretty much the same, with a somewhat mild and slightly biscuity/bready caramel malt sweetness along with a light touch of hops. I really wish the flavor profile here was more potent overall. Its not bad at all, and there are no off-flavors, metallic tastes, adjunct flavors, etc. but it just needs to be stronger all around in general. Has an overall crisp, yet also smooth, light bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a very clean finish. Just a bit too thin and watered down for what I like in any given beer I drink. Easy to drink in the same way seltzer water is, not the way a well crafted beer is. This is certainly refreshing in this hot and humid Florida weather in July, but this really is nothing more than a good lawnmower beer. A really good lawnmower beer, and that can really hit the spot sometimes in the right environment, but still just a lawnmower beer and certainly nothing special or worth going out of your way to drink. Its totally unnecessary for this beer to exist as long as regular Yuengling, which is a decent beer overall, exists.

If you're going to drink beer, drink beer - hit the treadmill for 30minutes if you're worried about calories so you can avoid this metallic flavored water. As a big fan of Yuengling, as a solid go-to beer, I figured I'd try their 'light' variety. My expectations were not high to start and with each additional sip I was grateful to be that much closer to never having to drink this beer again.

Harsh carbonation, consistency of water, hints of the metal, and stale piss aromas sums of this beer.

Love Fat Yuengling. Not light.

I've drank so much of this beer its not even funny. Going to college in eastern PA it was so affordable and easy to come by. We often referred to it as the "Diet Dr. Pepper of light beers" for its faithfulness to the traditional lager. No doubt, Yuengling has often been overrated by beer lovers for its heritage rather than its flavor, especially since the craft beer movement is so strong. That doesn't mean its bad beer though. It has a very distinctive flavor and drinkablity that many will love when compared to its pale lager brethren from the major brewers. At 99 calories its a guilt free pleasure. Some may be turned off by its unusually low 3.6abv

Tea-colored beer with a light head that dissipates quickly. Grassy, sweet aroma with light citrus notes. Crisp, fresh, leafy flavor. Creamy texture, but doesn't feel heavy at all. The only way I can tell this is a light beer is the slightly watery body, but even that isn't unpleasant. Hard to believe this is in the same category as the BMC lights. I'd drink this stuff all the time if it were available in my area.

Nice light amber color with a decent head to it. There is flavor here and I find this to be one of the better light beers. Not quite up to my favorite (Labatt Blue Light) but very good.

People saying this beer is flavorless have obviously not had any other macro light beers to compare it to. I already think Yuengling is one of the better macro beers out there, and their attempt at a lighter lager is equally miles above what some other breweries are doing. Look is pretty standard: light brownish red with a thin head that quickly dissipated. Smell is kind of faint, but what is there is Yuengling's trademark corny/grainy sweetness and lightly toasted malt. Taste is more of the same, and actually pretty comparable to their traditional lager. I found it the tiniest bit sweeter and almost slightly artificial tasting because of that, but it definitely exceeded my expectations for a light beer. Feel is where this beer suffers the most. Much lighter in body and more watery than traditional lager. I also found mine to be lower in carbonation, and at first, it made the beer pleasantly creamy in mouthfeel...but by about halfway through, it just felt flat. Overall, a solid take on a light beer, and will probably become a staple in my fridge right alongside traditional lager.

Good for a light beer. Not a whole lot going for it on taste, almost like carbonated water mixed with a regular Yuengling. Smell is slightly corny or possibly grassy. Easy drinking. Better than your standard PBR / Bud Light affair. One of a few go tos if I'm just looking for a safe choice to drink that I'm used to.

Yuengling Light Lager - A staple at parents’ house. Became a staple of my night caps, when taste buds are tired and few calories needed, but still wanted, before sleep. The thing is, these kind of beers seem to go down faster, as if proportionally for the calories, like dog years. Good thing they buy it by the case. What can I say, it’s one of my mom’s faves. I drink it almost faster than I can taste it, the primary characteristic it holds is drinkability - refreshing, quenching and fills the belly with tingly goodness, yet less of the guilt. Would be great to shotgun, especially as an adult, in my parents’ house #throwback Next time I visit with my son we will both shotgun one near that pond out back. Cascade hops lend some familiarity to more exceptional brews, nice touch.

It has more flavor than the two that are popular locally, Bud 'Lite' and Coors 'Lite'. Those are watered down and bland compared to Yuengling. The other local 'Lite' is 'Natural Lite' and it's not much more flavorful than swimming pool water.
