12oz can into a pint glass. Lengthy code no help in determining age.
Pale watery yellow body, small bubbly head, streams of carbonation. A little lacing. Aroma of mango. Tastes of mango, a little fizzy. Finish is off, makes the natural mango flavor used taste artificial.
Live in Pottsville so feel obliged to try all their offerings. This is mid range in their portfolio.

Bubble gum on the nose and the taste. Overall, tastes like a boozy piece of mango-flavored bubble gum slapped with some carbonation. Very drinkable, but not anything to write home about.

D.G. YUengling & Son, Inc. "Yuengling Bongo Fizz"

Notes via stream of consciousness: From America's oldest continually operating brewery comes "Bongo Fizz", a "Premium Beer" with natural mango flavor. There's an odd juxtaposition here but I'm just going to let that go. I can smell the mango flavor as I pour it, and sure enough it's there bright and clear when held closer to the nose. It smells like a malternative rather than a beer as all I get is sweet and perfumey mango. Such is mango! It's a hazy golden in color beneath a short head of white foam. On to the taste, I'm highly dissapointed that it follows the aroma to the T. It's a sweet mango-flavored alcoholic concoction at 4.5% ABV that leaves me scratchng my head. What happened to tradition? Or at least a good beer in general? This isn't even properly balanced, and the fact that the mango appears so completely artificial leaves it as a disgrace upon the Yuengling name. I know they've got to fight for market share but this volée is a mistake. Ha ha ha, watch as I'll have to eat my words when this becomes their best seller! It's medium bodied and gently crisp with a decent head retention and some median lacing, just to get that out of the way. If I was out at sea and the boat I was on caught fire and burnt down to just the fiberglass hull protecting me from increasingly curious sharks I'd be happy to suck down a case of this or more, even if warm ~ but I'll never touch this again if my life isn't in peril. It's out of balance, overly artificial, and not really that great to look at. Sad.
