Yuengling Brewery

Notes: Yuengling® is proud to offer our Oktoberfest as an homage to our German Heritage. Copper in color, this medium bodied beer is the perfect blend of roasted malts with just the right amount of hops to capture a true representation of the style.

Presented in a standard pint glass

Look: Deep amber colore with faint white ring around the top. There is a film of small bubbles that want to form a faint head but cannot quite muster it.

Smell: Faint smell of malts and almost no sense of hops. There is an earthy aroma that reminds me of autumn. I get a bit of a yankee candle vibe from it.

Taste: The hops give a pleasurable bite to the lips and tongue. There is a taste of minerals and spices that fade into a malty flavor. Tastes of grains and straw that really accomplish the oktoberfest genre.

Feel: Incredibly smooth lager that hits the right notes of bitterness and warm caramel malt.

Overall: Fantastic oktoberfest brew that is great from the beginning to the end. There couple be more carbonation and a tad bit more flavor, otherwise it was executed quite well for what it is: a cheap oktoberfest brew that can be bought as far as Indiana.

A: Medium brown in color, with a smallish light tan head.

S: Malty with caramel, and a touch of molasses. Perhaps a touch on the cloying side, with perhaps a touch of floral hops.

T: Malty with a biscuit like flavor. Slightly floral with a hint at bitterness, and perhaps a touch of tannin, or maybe brewer's licorice.

M: Medium bodied, moderate to active carbonation, and some odd cling in the finish.

O: Overall not a great brew, but I'd be pleased if this showed up with some wurst, kraut, and mustard... I'd be more pleased with a better beer, but this one could do.

Appearance: Beautiful red-gold-amber color, light color cap with decent lacing.

Aroma: Some fairly rich malty tones with little hop presence.

Taste: Rich, toffeeish, caramely malt without much in the way of balancing hops. Flavor is inviting for just about any who like beer, too bad it doesn't last. The taste sorta thins out midpalate with a more roasted malt character emerging that lingers in the aftertaste. It's like they ran out of ideas and kinda chopped it off in the end.

Texture: Medium

Overall: A rather good tasting beer that doesn't quite hold together to the end. Still in all, it's an uncomplicated beer with fuller than average flavor that I suspect will be served very cold where the malt flavors will stand out and the disappointing finish diminished.

Perfect for when you’re feeling hints of autumn in the air, but you’re not quite ready to embrace pumpkins.

$11.98/12 pack.

Maltier than Premium, no discernable hops, makes me miss the roasty quality of Porter. I try it every year out of a sense of obligation but it never 'wows' me.

Bronzed brew with reddish-brown hues. Poor head retention. It didn't pour much of it anyway.

Toffee sweet aroma to metallic dark lager malts. A sprite spearmint-like hop pervades the nose in hints.

Still somewhat thinly malty for an Oktoberfest, but showing toasted caramel grains, huskiness, and menthol hops. Light tobacco note. Steely finish.

Burpy beer with bountiful carb. Body is a bit thin. Manageable drinkability.

Decent stab by Yuengling. I'll be fine and dandy finishing out the six-pack.

12oz twist off bottle poured into a pint glass.

Pours a deep amber with a burnt orange color, decent clarity. About 1-2 fingers of off white head that eventually fades to nothing.

Light mineral lager yeast with a bit of light toasted grain and light caramel, nothing special.

Mineral with a touch of sulfur lager yeast throughout with some grainy sweetness and a bit of caramel bread. Slight hints of citric hop bitterness. hHowever a little too light and lack luster for the style, carbonated like a light lager, a little overdone , but drinkable and a nice new offering from yeunling.

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in an imperial nonic glass

A - It pours a rusty amber color. It was topped with an inch of off-white head.

S - I smell a little caramel malt and some grain.

T - I get some caramel malt and grain. It has a dry finish.

M - Moderate and dry.

O - Ever since I had a Yuengling Light I have been turned off by this brewery. I was given this beer. Otherwise I would have never bought it, and I probably won't buy it.
