First off, I'm glad this place finally got added. I think that Barleywinefiend and myself are the only two BAs that have been here. It's located just south of downtown San Luis Obispo near Mitchell Park on the corner of Osos and Pismo. I actually found out about this place because of their sandwiches: they were voted 'Best in San Luis Obispo' by the SLO New Times last fall. With that said, the sandwiches are B O M B.

Ok, now for the beer part:
As soon as you walk into Nona's, you'll notice exotic bottles adorning the walls above the cooler. Unfortunately, those bottles are empty; the full ones are in the back. The beer is crammed into a pretty small space and most of the stuff isn't refrigerated. A lot of the bottles have dust on them, and an entire rack is placed against a tinted window. Sadly, I have bought light-damaged beer from this establishment before :/.

I still return, however, because the selection is fantastic. More American craft brews than any other place in town (including BevMo!), and enough Belgians to rival Sandy's. The only place in town where you can still find St. Bernardus Abt. 12, though Lincoln Market & Deli used to have it. A huge assortment from Chouffe, Delirium, St. Bernardus, Unibroue and others. A ton of American seasonals that I have never seen before, and a ton of exotic imports as well. Most of the beers kept in the cooler are American micro-brews (North Coast, Anderson, etc.). All of the crappy beer (with the exception of Sierra Nevada) is in the coolers in the front of the store.

The cashiers are usually nice, and while they don't seem to know a whole lot about craft beer, they have tried (or claimed to try) almost every one I've bought there. As a final hurrah for this review, I will say that THEY STILL SELL FIRESTONE ELEVEN FOR $30 A BOTTLE! I only know of one other place that still sells the stuff, and it's Cork N' Bottle for $49.95 a pop.

If you're a local, you probably know this place. If you're a visitor, stop on by, but beware of skunked beers.

I had a tip that this place had some beer that was rare an hard to find. This place was easy to find and just across the park. The only hard part approaching this place ha to be the parking.
As you walk in to your right you are able to see some craft beer as decoration with dust on the bottles. Not the most presentable place by far. As you continue to walk back to their craft section it's a pretty tight place. Several um organized shelves are scattered some hol wine and other beer. I notice they do have coolers with a nice selection of craft beer. You will find firestone, stone, rogue, and a few other notable breweries. I asked the clerk if they had any special beer in the back. I was told that thu don't hide it but they have it behind the counter. They had some one off firestone and Deschutes beers. Looking at the price I was blown away with the gauging. They mark their limited release on average 4-10 dollars. This place could be a last resort for many but not a place were I would recommend for those looking for a deal. I would say they are just above average in selection but pricey.

Nonas is a small place with little parking. Parking lot is on the side or the street. Walking in is pretty tight, alot packed into a small space. Coolers of soda on the right wall and the cashier on the left right next to the deli portion. Directly to the back is a grand beer selection ranging from Rogue Chocolate Stout, Bear Republic, Firestone, and much more. It has great selection of California beers excluding SD area beers like Port. They do ave Stone and green Flash but RR was not on the shelves. A good selection of Euros and Belgians as well. On the back wall is numerous coolers of beer ranging vastly. Overall prices were good. Have not had a snadwich and the service was pretty good. Probably the best selection in SLO besides BEVMO.
