V: This store is definitely part of the Whole Foods brand, but certainly one of the better examples. It's clean, big, well laid out, with a good (but not cheap) food selection. They had a fair-sized bar (more on that later) in the middle of the wine / beer section. It's nice, but you wouldn't get past the feeling you're in a grocery store.

Q: The beer quality seems to be pretty high. They could stand to rotate out some of their bottle selection, but it's solid overall.

S: The service was friendly and helpful. I didn't have any beer questions, so that didn't enter into the equation.

S: The main feature of the store is, without a doubt, the draft selection. They have 48 taps with lots of local / state beers (Hardywood, Ardent, Three Notch'd) and national (Ommegang, Green Flash, Lagunitas). There was also a good bottle selection, but it wasn't overly huge (not many foreign beers either. Nothing overly exotic here, but definitely solid.

Although a few years ago WF was probably not the only place to go in my area to get a growler fill, it was one of the first places I went. I still have their growler. Although the draft selections are limited, most of the time I can find a brew I want to try.

In addition to the draft selections, WF has a pretty good selection of canned and bottled beer. I have found local craft beer and small brewery selections there that I could not find elsewhere (examples include Midnight Brewery and Chaos Mountain).

This is not my first choice to buy beer but if I am nearby, I make it a point to stop in and see what they have.

Where to go in the Short Pump area for craft beers. Knowledgeable staff, rotating and specials on draft, competitive pricing. Just the best place to go to find that hard to find beer. And the food is pretty good too, anything from a fresh salad, some cheese to go with that port, or just a good old slice of pizza!

Whole Foods - Short Pump was an unexpected surprise when it comes to their beer menu. I found a strong selection of craft beers from notable breweries including some obscure west coasters.

What is really impressive is their "on tap" selections which sport up to eight handles and have included such gems as DFH WWS, FW 15th Anniversary, Hopslam, Founder's BS to name a few. Have a pint or have your growler filled, but be quick as this place is popular.

Whole Foods for a good selection of craft beer...who knew?!

Wandered into this place to get some better, more healthy pasta and was pleasantly surprised to find a decent beer selection.!

The overall experience of this place is IMO, "high end granola", which usually irritates me to no end, but the help was great and the pretentious overtones were kept in check for the most part. Very clean store with cozy lighting. Aisles were relatively spacious as well.

The beer selections were all chilled, but they had great singles offerings. Not as many as you would find in a specialty store, but it looked obvious that whomever was doing the purchasing actually knew what some of the better representatives of each style were, and they stocked them. Good selection of bombers as well. I don't think that this place is too well traveled by beer fans either, since I found a DFH WWS there in August. Me thinks that these babies flew off the shelves no later than January of last year in most any other store.

They did have a growler filling station, and by most other accounts, it's rotated pretty consistently. I can't really rate this aspect myself since I haven't really gotten into growlers just yet (that takes a commitment and friends that like crafts. All my friends are BMC guys...)

Prices were a bit more than other grocery stores, and a bit higher than specialty stores, but not ridiculous in pricing either.

pretty nice WFM - and the only one in the Richmond area

half of one aisle is all cold storage beer, nothing exactly rare or even hard to find in these parts but lots of quality nonetheless, most of the locals will be here in addition to some of the more popular American and European micros, small singles section with only a few of much interest, but well priced

near the hot bar is a small seating area with those cool argon preserved, self-serve wine despensers that spit out servings as small as an ounce, here you'll find a few - maybe 6 - taps available for in house consumption or growler purchase, standard half-gallon and 1.5 liter growlers available in-store, nothing terribly exciting, Terrapin IBA and some Unibroue are the only two I recall, rotation is typically high at WF so probably no issues there

typical WF beer service - probably great if the beer guy is around, but otherwise tough to come by, but that's both expected and understood
