A - typical amber with a hint towards brown. Nice white foam head settled to a ring around the beer.

S - English hops and American hops. Carmel malt and biscuit

T - Carmel malt and biscuit mixed harmoniously with the English and American hops.

M - Somewhere between thin and medium.

D - A perfect session beer. I am really impressed with the balance of this beer.

On site with Don.

A - Pours a nice red color, with a 2-fingered head. Dissipates moderately.

S - Caramel, honey, and light hop bitterness.

T - Very similar. Feeling like a good session beer so far.

M - Full bodied and well balanced. Nice how the caramel and honey add sweetness and are followed up by some hop bitterness.

D - Really drinkable and a good session beer. This should be a standard for session ambers.

A 22 ounce bomber poured into a shaker pint glass. Cool label.

Appearance - Rusty copper color. Murky. Nice tan head. Good lacing.

Smell - Malt. Earthy. A touch sweet.

Taste - Malty. Herbal. A touch sweet. A touch bitter.

Mouth - Syrupy. Nice.

Overall - A very nice Amber ale. Reminiscent of a British bitter.

This beer pours a clear amber color. The head is half an inch in height, and recedes quickly into minimal lacing. The aroma is of caramel, light toffee, and cream. The taste is of caramel and toffee with much more depth than found in the aroma. The finish is clean with virtually no aftertaste which is a shame. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, and a smooth texture. Overall, this is a nice amber ale. I wouldn't object to drinking this again.

Out of a bottle that I scored for only a buck ($3.99 for a four-pack!) this beer was a clear copper color with some amber highlights that appeared in the light. The khaki-colored head retained itself as a skim and left spots of lacing around my glass. The aroma was of fresh bread, pale malt, caramel malt and a little toffee. The flavors were quite enjoyable to my palate; I tasted a blend of bready malt, caramel, toffee sweetness and just a touch of hops at the end which provided a clean finish .The body was medium, the carbonation average and the mouthfeel smooth.

Bottle shared by Cory (beergeeks.ca), 5.9%ABV into a tulip. 12oz bottle.

Poured a reddish brown with a tan head, that only leaves a collar behind. Sparse lacing. Nose has prominent tootsie roll characteristics, caramel, chocolate and a light peripheral citrus. Taste is of grainy bread, tootsie rolls again, caramel and a fairly prominent candy apple flavour in the finish. Medium light mouthfeel, with an awkward bitterness in the finish. Medium low carbonation as well. A surprisingly tasty amber, although I'm not really sure when this was bottled. Certainly surprising.

A - Poured out a murky amber color with a one-finger, short lived off-white head of foam. It left little to no lacing.

S - It smelled malty and bready with a subtle floral aroma.

T - It tasted malty and bready with a sharp bitter spicy bite. Some mild caramel flavors, too.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry, clean finish.

O - This is a pretty tasty amber ale. Another solid offering from Napa Smith.

Pours a very clean and lucid amber color. Forms a good head with mediocre retention but lacing is very nice.

A little thin on the aroma with yeast and some caramel malt being the main things I'm picking up. Some leafy, grassy, hops in there but it takes a big whiff to pick them out.

Very clean on the palate with more caramel and some roasty malt on the aftertaste. Tastes like a slightly subdued Anderson Valley Boont Amber. Sweetens up slightly as it warms but not much. As in the aroma, not much in the hop department. Lacking on the complexity for my tastes but just barely enough to keep me engaged and push up the aready high drinkability.

Overall well constructed but a little too mellow for my expectations of the style. Still good enough that I'll probably give other offerings from this brewer a chance in the future.
