My first offering from these guys...

Faint citrusy grapefruit aromas and maybe a little orange as well... A bit flowery as well... Not bad aroma-wise but not pungent either...

Very refreshing taste although unspectacular... Lightly hopped malts showcase here with neither winning... Fairly balanced if a bit thin...

This would make a good light lawnmower brew but the ABV could hinder too many...

Pretty tasty - nice, pungent IPA from a brewery that usually seems a bit restrained.

Pours Golden with a very slight haze and huge streamers of carbonation, leading to a large, sticky, lacy head. The aroma leaps out of the bottle even before the pour - citrusy, grapefruity and strong. The flavor is powerfully hoppy, with lemon, grapefruit and apricot with a potent herby top note, like rosemary. The mouthfeel is prickly to the point of a burn and the bitterness lies high on the back of the mouth, with a sharp, cider-vinegar sting to it.

Not your typical IPA, but you could call it a great hoppy amber with a very fruity, floral melon ball hop character. Maybe it's bitter like an East Coast IPA, but the moutfeel doesn't stand up to most California IPAs. Still, there was a bit of balance with bready, toasted

First off I love the Napa Smith labels. They are classy. Though, I am not too excited about the name of this beer.

The beer is a nice amber color with an off white head. The head retention was minimal, but this is OK with me on an IPA. The beer has a nice hoppy aroma, though there is no brewed on date so it's hard to know how much this has diminished over time.

The beer is nicely balanced, probably more minimal on the IBU side than many IPAs. Some citrus flavors, perhaps cascade, centennial, or amarillo hops?

Good carbonation levels for this beer. Drier than some IPAs I have had, which in my book is good. For a beer that bills itself as a summer beer, it needs to be light and not heavy. Can certainly see how this brew could go well with many heavier foods, really cutting through the flavors but not weighing you down as you have a few pints.

All around a decent, drinkable IPA.

A-Pours a hazy, rusty, copper orange with a quarter inch of eggshell white head. Leaves substantial lacing.

S-Grassy, floral hops (I'm guessing Saaz (?) and soft, grainy malts.

T-This is, to date, the best beer I've had from Napa Smith. Simple and approachable, but with the body that so many of their other beers have lacked. They have gone out of their way to use less bitter hop varietals, and it makes for a refreshing change of pace. Light, grainy, and thirst quenching with just a touch of grassy bitterness in the back palate. Would be good on a hot day.

M-Light to medium bodied with a fairly abrupt finish.

D- I wouldn't go out of my way for this one, but it's nice enough.

Summer Seasonal dry-hopped IPA, perfect for grilling. Pours amber with a fairly decent, dense, off-white head that sticks around for awhile. Smells of earthy hops and has a very slightly acrid smell of grain underneath- not enough to ruin it, but a slight blemish. The taste is mellow, not too sweet, and evinces a very nice hop character that showcases some pine and earth. Quite smooth, but the hops, although mellow, have nice length and offer a nice counterpoint the very nicely integrated malt. Not as in-your-face as it could be, hop-wise, but the lack of spiciness in the hop profile instead makes this easily quaffable and a balanced, appealing package. Nice brew.
