On tap at Twisted Tasting in Santa Cruz. Pours a dark goldish color with a small white head. Smells like mowing the lawn, if your lawn is made of fennel instead of grass. Vivid licorice dominates the aroma and flavor. I was told this was brewed with star anise and licorice root. Not sure what the IPA aspect of this beer is, other than being pale. If there’s any hoppiness, it’s totally covered up. If you like black licorice-flavored alcohol but dislike the syrupiness (or frattiness) of Jaegermeister, this is your beer!
