Served on-tap originally at Ffej of July and later at Al's of Hampden.

A - Pours hazy yellow with a nice one finger tall white head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving small streaks of lace on the sides of the glass.

S - Smells of fruity Belgian yeast, lots of freshly zested lemon, black pepper and lightly toasted bready malt. This pour was a bit too cold, once it warmed up it was much better.

T - Starts off with a mix of chewy pale malt and the fruity yeast quickly being joined by the black pepper and finally a nice bite from all that lemon zest. Finish is pretty chewy but it fades away quickly, not lingering for very long at all on the palate.

M - Light body with moderate carbonation. Crisp, clean feel with just enough fruit to even it all out making it very drinkable.

O - This really does taste like a beefed up version of Freefall. The lemon comes through nicely and helps to keep it in check but never gets in the way of drinkability. It is easy to see why this was the winning beer at FOJ this year.

Draft offering at Pizza Boy served in a sort of large weizen/pils glass. The brew appears a hazy golden yellow color with a persistent white froth that maintains from a constant stream of bubbles. As the cap fades, some patchy lace sticks to the glass.

The aroma is filled with clove and pepper. Some fruit quality like pear/apple blends with a bit of freshly cracked black pepper. This is quite a spicy and yeast driven grissette, not necessarily the citrus beer you might expect based off the name.

The taste is dry and grainy with plenty of yeasty phenolics. It is not bad but the yeast profile is the dominating trait of this leaving no room for any grain, hop or "zest" character that might have been added.

This is a crisp, light and easy drinking brew with a firm bitterness that emerges as it warms. A nice, low key drinking brew that I could toss back in quantity.
