750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Deep amber body. Clear. Medium off-white head.

Smell - Generic deep grape and fruity aroma. A little musty. Lightly acidic, with a bit of vinegar.

Taste - Grape. Kinda winey. White wine and then some darker fruits, not necessarily grape. Intense sourness. Wine lingers into the back end. Doesn't quite get vinegary, but the sourness is really strong.

Mouthfeel - Really sour. Medium carbonation.

Overall - Kinda torn on this one. It's muddled in its fruit flavor and really intense. It's better when I don't think about it too much, but still not great.

I've had this one in the cellar for a bit...

L - A standard pour yields three plus fingers worth of audibly fizzy medium khaki colored head with a bit of a purplish berry hue... Minimal retention gives way to a minimalistic splotchy lacing and thin collar... A few stray carbonation bubbles can be seen bursting through the surface... A good number of carbonation streaks can be seen streaking throughout... The carbonation streaks start slightly sluggish and quickly accelerate... The color is a murky light brown reminiscent of iced tea with some faint red highlights mixed in here and there...

S - A lively and inviting nose that is equal parts tart and sweet... Moderate notes of lactic acid and vinegar tickle the sense... This competes for prominence with grape juice... There is also a slightly musky character floating around as well...

T - The sour notes take a dominating presence on the palate... Lactic acid... Vinegar... A bit salty as well... A strong under current of woody oak notes... Some light red wine tannin qualities as well.. The mild sweetness is relegated to a very distant back seat... Some light tobacco notes on the finish as well... Each sip reveals a subtle new nuance not previously detected...

F - Lively and quite eventful... Spry carbonation... Puckering... Saliva enduing... Sleek and a bit syrupy... The deep finish introduces a touch of dryness and chalkiness...

O - A potent sour with loads of depth and complexity... I wasn't sure how this one would age, but it's a home run... Very well crafted...

Shared with rudzud

Big fizzy head fades fairly quickly, dark rosy reddish color, yeast chunks floating.

Nose big fruit musty grape, berry cherry like fruit, grape cherry fruit and a hint if of cherry cough syrup, sour funk with a little cranberry tartness.

Taste brings sweet and tart malts, a bit syrupy, very sour cranberry and cherry sour funk, acidic bite, tart funk, little barrel notes, big acidity, flemmy finish with big acidic tart funk, grape skin thin a little buttery oak finish.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb.

Overall not bad.

Light, clear purple tinge. Sour! Lemon, lime, green grapes and grape skin. A hint of earthy malt. Nice grape flavor. Oak. Clean, very short finish. Sour and tart but not abrasive. Really good.

Really sour. Very similar to the Upland series.

thought this was extremely sour, a bit too much for my taste. the wine really showed in this beer, however.
