Valley Road Enterprises / Pizza Boy Brewing Co. "Brewery Pilsner"
Sampled from what seems like a 16 fl. oz. can but which is not labeled as such. Additionally, the ink-jet freshness dating runs up the side of the can and is illegible.
$3 at the brewery

Notes via stream of consciousness: It pours a slightly hazy straw gold body beneath a finger-thick head of bright white that seems to hold fairly well. The aroma is clean and fresh, delivering grainy Pilsner malt and grassy, herbal, and floral hops. It's not bold but it's clear and welcoming. The flavor follows and the Pilsner malt and grassy and lightly herbal and floral hops blend nicely into a solid flavor while allowing each of the components to come through at the same time. The malt is just lightly sweet, and a stiff bitterness balances it. The sticker on the can simply reads "Premium PILSNER" but this seems to be done more in the German rather than Czech style, although it's not nearly as bitter as some of the northern German examples can be. Wow! Looking back I still have a solid head of foam covering the entire surface, that's impressive. The lacing could be a bit better, but that's pretty good as well with some wide craggy streaks and broken sheets. Except for the haze it's a great looking Pils. It's very nicely done all around: nicely flavored, nicely balanced, and nicely rounded. It's medium bodied and crisp-then-smooth. Highly drinkable. I'm fairly impressed with this. Having just returned from Germany I can say that it ranks right up there with plenty of the pilsners that I tasted.

On tap at the local ballpark.

A - Pours a hazy straw yellow color with white frothy lacing on top.

S - Cereal grain, light lemon, and earthy.

T - Earthy lemons, honey malt, and finishes with earthy citrus spice.

M - Light medium body.

O - A refreshing easy drinker on a hot day, nothing more.

16 oz can

Clear light yellow colored, foamy white head. Aroma is cracked corn, sweet grain. Grassy mild hops. Similar taste. Thin to medium bodied, drinks easy.
