Compliments of PA-Michigander. Thanks. Aroma has a sweetness to it so that I thought I was getting coffee with sugar in this beer, but no sugar in the taste. Nice mouthfeel. The 10% abv is well hidden.

Can it be so? Two favorite breakfast items combined into one stout. This one, poured from a pint can into a clear Imperial pint glass, is as black as a stout can get. Yet, the modest and enduring head is only a light shade of tan. There's a tremendous hit of roasted coffee to the nose. The taste is much more balanced, with the roasted malt and oatmeal adding a likeable sweetness not picked up by the nose. There is also a 10% ABV to consider. It's not harsh, but it contributes to the overall sweetness and helps the finish move towards dry. This is a good Imperial Stout, Coffee Stout and Oatmeal Stout, respectively. Certainly a sipper, as no one should want to down sixteen ounces of this quickly. This is a go for the gusto brew and it mostly works. A very strong coffee flavored stout, softened just a bit by oats, which also contribute to a smooth body. Also sweet, but not overly malty, so the coffee and oatmeal may share in the contributions to the taste. Caveat: If you have more than one, you'll probably nap through lunch.
