Poured in a 12oz glass via draft...dark yellow in color, smell is mango, as is the taste..the real surpise here is how well this drinks for a 13.5% IPA..this is as smooth as an IPA with half the ABV, and the alcohol burn is almost non-existent..dangerous stuff!!

6 oz. pour from the tap
I ordered this mostly as a novelty. I'm always curious about these monster IPAs and how much they can actually resemble an IPA while pushing the ABV to extremes. I think Pizza Boy hit their mark with this one. Body is a little sticky, and the alcohol heat is undeniable, but I don't find it cloying or unapproachable at all. It's actually frighteningly drinkable for 13%. The hop flavors are mild--mostly citrus and mango with faint grass. The strong malt body is sweet, but in a fruity-melon-berry way Not too bready or heavy. I wouldn't hesitate to order another one of these.

A - Dark copper color, no head, no lacing, no retention.
S - Malt and tropical fruit - totally lacks in this category.
T - Tropical resin from start to finish. Sweet caramel malt base. Pineapple, orange, guava, passion fruit, tropical fruit rind.
M - Coats mouth with resin.
O - ABV well hidden.

Was expecting more hoppiness from a 4x labeled beer.

Beautiful amber color with nice lace from out of a crowler.
This beer has a strong and deep hop profile without ever being overpowering. The sweet malts still shine. Tastes like a 6% beer, but it is more than double that. Bitter up front but that fades into a surprisingly sweet finish.

I enjoyed a twelve oz glass of this at Millworks in Harrisburg PA, served chilled on tap.
The color is a deep golden amber with moderate haze and thick white head with fine bead and clinging lace. The smell is mostly hops with a nice citrus aroma with slight floral/tropical hop scent and mild smell of alcohol under a heavy hop nose. The feel is good with malt base supporting moderately high bitterness and medium light carbonation with a deceptive alcohol level as far as abv on the palate.
The taste is excellent with a nice lovely citrus with tangy fruity tropical quality and mango-like semi-candied hop quality with orange-zest and mild herbal aspect with light alcohol with a slightly earthy taste and dry finish with lingering warmth with some residual bitter flavors. This is a well done strong IPA-the elevated alcohol is nowhere near what the abv is listed as as far as flavor goes with a hop bitterness level that is well balanced by the malt. I would have guessed 10% not 13%, a very tasty hoppy offering from Pizza Boy
