Al's is just 7 miles west of the state Capitol in Harrisburg, PA and easy to get to by car. It's a big place with a large parking lot. The pizzas are great, and they offer a huge range of beers on tap (over 99) including 20 to 30 of their own. Except for specialty beers everything on tap is available for growler fills, and there are also large format bottles and cans available for take out. The mix-a-six of their 16 oz. cans for $16 is a pretty good deal ($2.66 a piece). Every time I cross the state I stop by.

This is an easy going, laid back, somewhat spacious warehouse turned funhouse with lunch room style tables the kids surely feel right at home at. There are plenty of games around one half of the perimeter, while the other is lined with to-go and in-house bottle and can options. Sports games play on the TV screens above and around the bar, but at some point I expected Chuck E. Cheese to come out from around the corner, because the parents with kids piling into this joint just never stopped. It's no wonder because the pizza is creative and relatively tasty, and one slice will fill a kid or two up at a nice price. Still, I continue to prefer visiting adult-only alcohol-centric establishments, so this aspect definitely knocks the vibe down a few notches for me.

I came here for the massively impressive tap list, and I wasn't disappointed. I've had this place on my list so long I forgot about it, and when I finally made the trip and saw the taplist I was instantly reminded why this was a place so high on my must-visit list to begin with. It thoroughly covers regional and national trends, as well as getting ya'll wine and cider fans' backs, but it's all about the beer for me. Not only did they have more than a few limited to very limited and hyper local releases on draft right here, but they have a massive list of their very own brews, which are easily verified as second to none via the quick and easy compare and contrast made available by the presence of the other highly rated breweries here. I really enjoyed their own drafts over most of the others.

I just love the way they do things: order by number, pay, grab a slice if you want, or not, hang around, watch the game, do your thing, and come back for more. I was caught a little off-guard by the volume limit on to-go purchases--I can't believe they still have to deal with that in PA-- but oh well. I needed to save room anyway, as we continued on our weekend road trip to Kane.

Trying to do too much with too little! Largish beer hall place. They do beer at one side/ food at the other. Tables close together and busy on a Saturday. First glance at beer is overwhelming. As you sort it includes beer/wine/cider. Their beers are mixed with other brewers. Not enough staff for both liquid and food to not back up. Their pizza was very decent. Their beer selection decent but more on sours as a specialty than any other style. Coffee stout smooth, very good. Vanilla milk porter good. ESB not a real ESB, more an IPA. ESB’s have a smooth versus citrus finish.

Would love to rate this place as my friends and I have visited multiple beer venues in the Harrisburg, PA area. However, when we wanted to celebrate a milestone event we were turned away. Too many people and they were family friendly. 40 people 50+, but they could not serve us because they are, get this, family friendly. We have kids who are freakin' older than the management. But, no they could not let us come to their establishment, because they are family friendly. What, we wouldn't be able to control our bowels because we are 50+ and would offend the vast numbers of families who visit on Thursday afternoons! Is this some sort of business where school children are brought to learn how to brew beer? Give me a break, age discrimination, what else could it be? Family friendly, what could be more family friendly then allowing a family to celebrate a major life milestone?

Little confusing first time in as far as how to accomplish food, beer and seating but all the busy may have had something to do with that. Once I figured it out we had some good food and great beer. Vibe was pretty lively to say the least. Service was a bit snotty in a soup Nazi, abide by the process and order quickly sorta way. Regardless, I'd recommend.

Not much ambiance (it's reminiscent of your high school cafeteria), but they have over 100 beers on tap (most of which are excellent). Pizza is good too. Located in an industrial park, but convenient to I-81. Brewery is right next door, and there's a huge pipe in the ceiling (with sequentially-flashing micro-lights) that I assume conveys the beer from the brewery to the tap. Or is supposed to give you that impression, anyway.

Tucked away in a quazi-industrial park area of Northwestern Harrisburg just minutes off the highway. The beer list is massive with a nice mix of their own beers (Al's/Pizza Boy), PA brewers, and other taps. The pizza slices and beer selections here have never disappointed. A recommended stop if you are in the Harrisburg area.

Great pizza and great beer. Life is good.

Located in an industrial park. All good service is ordered at the counter and brought to the table. The big board with the tap selections is impressive. They have an array of pizza boy beers plus a ton of other high quality selections.

Stopped on a Saturday night for pizza and a couple beers. It's an open space, food kitchen and bar to one side, brewing equipment to the other, and tables in between. You order food and beers at the counter. Beer they have about a 100 taps, of which about 30 are Pizza Boy beers, the rest are other PA breweries. Big variety, and beers are available in two sizes. Order by tap #, no flights. Bartenders were quick with service. We had a white pizza, it was very good - great garlic flavor, not too greasy, and the crust was airy, crisp and tasty. You can also buy their canned beers to go, including mix-a-six

Pizza Boy is quite an interesting brewery/taproom… Big open hall with the brewery equipment off at one end and the food/to-go/bar at the other end. We arrived near open, so no crowds to deal with and a spot at the bar. Made for quick, tentative service. A mammoth selection of 100 some taps, with about 20 of their own on… The rest local options primarily from around the state of PA.

As far as the Pizza Boy beer goes, tried five of their beers. They were overall fairly solid, but nothing I had was earth shattering. Fairly middle of the road as far as quality goes.

Pricing was a bit imbalanced… Most half pours were only $1 less than their full pour counterparts. So quite a hefty penalty for not doing full pours. Of course, no flight/tasters which is fine with me… Just price your half pours a bit more fairly.

Overall, cool place but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.

A wide open venue where you can order from any cash register... No table service except to bring it your food. They have a lot of their own brews and a lot of locals choices... Maybe all from this state?

Ive been to this place multiple times and am honestly surprised i havent entered a review to this point. This is a slightly overwhelming pizza place slash brewpub. There are about 100 tap lines with about 15 house beers. There are lots of table and chair set ups in the bar and about 15 seats at the bar. Ordering beers is all done at the cash register. No bar service is available for visitors. There is an extensive pizza menu at this pub and also beer to go in growlers and bottles from a cooler.
They dont do samples of beers as a taster but an 8 oz sample as the lowest rung is pretty reasonable in my opinion. This pub is a little industrial feel and I think it can be too over the top with selection if this is your first visit. I tried a coffee stout and and Legendairy IPA which was an IPA with Lactose. I wasnt too impressed with the IPA, but the coffee stout was quite enjoyable. I didnt eat pizza on my most recent visit but have in the past and found it to be pretty solid.
This is a place I would recommend a visit of for anybody in the central PA area looking for tasty beers.
