A great place: cheap beer and excellent explanation. They even have their own beer. Downside: not the biggest choice of beers.

Cozy little store - just a few doors down from De Kelk. The bar component exists, but is small, and we didn't fully investigate.

The stash of beers is small, but not lacking in quality. There are so many beer stores in Brugge, and like any true beer hunters, we needed to poke around in them all. De Bierboom was sporting some Lou Pepe's, which I didn't see elsewhere. The pricetag was a little beyond my pricepoint, but certainly would be seen as a deal to some.

Definitely worth stopping in - the hours may not align, but a trip to De Kelk is also a must

What a fantastic find: This shop-cum-bar is two doors down from De Kelk and well worth walking those extra 10 yards. There are bigger beer stores with larger selections in Brugges, there are certainly smarter and better appointed drinking establishments, but this is special.

It is by far the cheapest and friendliest beershop/bar I've visited in Brugges. The cold fridge has all bottles at 2 Euro or 2.50 Euro to be drank at the back of the shop: there is a small bar area and a pool table, plus a few tables and chairs. Toilets out the back are a little rural and rustic, but clean and absorbing.

I was in a party of 12 and had been in earlier to check the place out by myself. We had a good chat about Westvleteren 12 and they will not travel for it unless the Monks will let them have 3 crates or more (they haven't been lately). When in stock they sell it for 4 Euro a bottle!

I bought all sorts, but here are two that might make you realise it's worth finding: 33cl bottles of Struise Rosse 2008 at 1.50 and 33cl bottles of Pannepot Old Fishermans Ale 2007 at 1.75 Euro.

Add to that a free 75cl Malheur Champagne for 'The Stag' in our group (their cost 12.50 Euro) and you can see why I rate it so highly.

I visited De Bier Tempel and walked around checking and comparing prices, I bought nothing in De Bier Tempel.

I have now been back a further two times and still think it the best 'hidden gem' in Brugge, even the wife likes walking out to it (she thinks it a bit grubby but lovelly non-the-less).
