The Cleveland Porter is decent but not spectacular. My wife brought a bottle home from Cleveland. The beer pored an opaque black with ecru head that did not lace much. Toffee, coffee, caramel and roast was on the nose. The taste had many of the scent characteristics however, it finished slightly bitter and acidic at the end. The mouthfeel was lighter in body for a porter with smooth carbonation. Overall this was a decent beer and I was glad to try it....but it was not one of the better porters that I have had.

Buckeye Brewing Cleveland Porter is an American #Porter that pours deep dark brown, more like a black, It's similar to the color of cola~ Minimal head, thin khaki colored line of bubbles about 1/4 inch that dissapted rather quickly~ Very little nose, some roasted malt, coffee and a faint chocolate background~ Feel is really flat and watery, very little substance here makes me a bit concerned of how much ingredients were used~ Taste is just ho hum, its smooth yet lacks any bold and pronounced flavor... Chocolate, Roasted Malt, faint Coffee, tones of Vanilla and dark fruit barely seep through~ Nothing special, something seems off or unbalanced it needs more ingredients for my personal taste~ Overall: 48rn

Poured into a Founders snifter on 4/17/13

Pours a thin, dull oil brown. The one finger head lasted but a few moments before leaving only an island skim. No lace.

The aroma is tangy and roasty with coffee, dark grains and hints hints of dark berries. Delicate chocolate sweetness rests underneath.

The taste is just as roasty but not nearly as tangy. Chocolate is pronounced with a moderate sweetness that is balanced by roasty dryness.

The feel is pretty smooth and reasonably robust. Moderately high carbonation, but nothing outlandish. The finish is a tad rough.

Overall, this is pretty decent. It's a little rough around the edges but easily drinkable.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, dark bread, toast, light coffee, light char, floral, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt with moderate earthy hop presence; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, dark bread, toast, light char, light coffee, floral, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Light roast/herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, dark bread, toast, light char, light coffee, herbal, floral, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors with moderate earthy hops; with good robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice and straightforward porter style. Good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours a jet black color, even opaque when held to the light. Not much carbonation and a thin, tan head dissipates almost immediately.
Smell has a nice balance of roasted dark malts and very slight hoppiness. Also, some nice dark fruit smells, some prune smells, give it a a bit of a sweetness.
Taste has a strong taste of dark roasted malts. Very burnt taste with a bit of hops as well.
Mouthfeel is very nice. A good thickness, pulls off being smooth while having a good porter chewiness also.
Drinkability is very nice for a porter. Good tastes and nice balance. A very good local beer in Cleveland and surprisingly a good porter to drink in any weather.

Received as an extra from miketd. Poured into a dogfish head chalice.

A - Poured a nice dark brown hue with a half finger khaki head that faded to leave light lacing and thin wisps.

S - Aromas of roasted almost burnt malts. Not getting much else. Very straight forward.

T - Taste is rather average as well. More of the roasted malts with a slight hop presense as well. Again fairly straightforward for a porter with light vanilla. Its just....average.

M - Mouthfeel is nice and creamy with a very light bitter mostly roasted finish.

O - Overall this beer was a very straightforward porter. Cut and dry, no frills, then again nothing to write home about.

A: Poured into a tulip-type glass and the beer immediately begins to foam up, filling about half of the glass with foamy, light brown colored head. Head falls fairly quickly, leaving only a trace of lacing on the way down.

S: If there is one thing I hate about large, foamy, overcarbonated beers is that they big foamy heads kill the aroma, leaving only the tinny metallic aroma of carbonation, which is exactly what this beer has. Once the head settles and dissipates, more of the roasted character and even a little chocolate can be detected, but its not very impressive.

T: The flavor isn't much better, but at least it's there. Roasted malts, milk chocolate, some watery espresso (much like an Americano). Very mild sweetness. M&M. Not a whole lot going on with this one.

M: Medium bodied; thin for the style. Overcarbonation gives this beer a mouthfeel like I'm drinking a Coke. Prickly, thin, and with just a mild touch of bitterness.

O: A fairly average beer with more than one flaw. Couldn't justify buying this one ever again.
