Fluffy White RabbitsFluffy White Rabbits
Notes: Our first Spring, we brought you a magical tree full of waving babies… and the Baby Tree has stuck around, we’re happy to say. So for our second Spring, and each Spring since, we’ve made a pale gold, hoppy triple called Fluffy White Rabbits. This is a fun and Springy beer: possibly even our fun-est beer. In Yorkshire, they say “White Rabbits” on the first of the month for luck, and here’s to a lovely warm Springtime for all of us!

The beer is 8.5% abv, with Saaz, Styrian Goldings and Strisselspalt hops added aplenty. Fluffy mouthfeel: yes, really! There’s a faint sweetness with tropical fruit undertones. Fluffy White Rabbits is a very “Pretty Things” take on a Triple.

We use what we think are the finest ingredients around: malts from Weyermann (Germany) and Fawcett (Yorkshire) in this beer.

It’s a fun one, we hope you enjoy it!

Dann has been working on the poem for this beer since springtime of 2009. One day, maybe you’ll come back and find it here. One day.

gosh i love this brewery, has to be one of the best in the country, and beers like this confirm that. such a wonderful american take on this style, maybe the single best american made tripel i have ever had. pale egshell finish wheaty color with some sediment. the head is as thick as marshmallow fluff and permanent, just beautiful. it smells herbaceous and grassy, very summery and alive, with a belgian yeast strain that is unlike others i am familiar with. it has notes of coriander in the nose and a pleasant sweetness like vanilla and white grapes, tantalizing. the flavor is not overly complex, but everything is dialed right in perfectly, its a tripel no doubt, but there are few subtle differences in this one, its softer and bigger in the feel, has a brilliant freshness, and the yeast has notes of rock candy, tangerine, tarragon, and even black pepper. so full and flush in feel, really lively carbonation, and just a delicate and elite level beer that shows the perfection of the recipe and the skill of the brewer both clearly. pretty things is amazing, never had even an average beer from them.

Light golden honey color with slight haze. Carbination seems to be on par for style. Thin head disapates rather quickly.
Waffs of semi-sour yeast mixes in with hints of clove. Noble hop aroma peak out, faint. Some sweet malts lighten things up.
Hop flavors push right over belgian yeast flavors. Bannana, clove, and other spices blend with piney hop profile. Alchol warms as it pushes past hop flavors. Nice big hop presence in this one.
Decent medium body, silkie when rolled around. Hop resins are a bit clingy to mouth.
Drink doesn't give the impression as name states. More like a jackolope on steroids! Good crafted brew. Not reviewers most favorite offering from Pretty Things, but well respected.

Appearance: yellow golden straw color, slightly cloudy, nearly no head even when pouring vigorously. No lacing left behind on the glass. Liked the unique artwork on the bottle.

Smell: Honeysuckle, biscuit, faint green apple. Don't get any notes of citrus from the hops.

Taste: Light lemon zest, corriander, bitter hops are apparent in the middle, then subsides to a yeasty biscuit sweetness at the end.

Mouthfeel: effervescent, light bodied, clean.

Drinkability: Liked it, very drinkable. Not as sweet as a traditional tripel. I would classify this offering as a tripel with a twist.

On tap at Redbones. I was there with for my girlfriend's ex-fiancees birthday party. Yeah, kinda awkward.

Hazy gold with a large white head. Sticky lace and slow skim retention. Aroma is rather funky. Not just traditional Belgian farm yeast funk but also some sort of human funk. Toe funk, sweaty head funk, something humane. And I mean that in a good way. Mango tropical fruity esters and sharp grassy hops.

Taste is Goya tropical juice up front with spicy backup. White pepper? Grassy hop resin adds flavor and mouthfeel. Dry, dry, super dry aftertaste. Not my favorite tripel but if spring ever comes to Boston I'd have another.

Pours a straw golden yellow, lots of carbonation. Citrus-malty aroma, some spice, coriander, maybe cinnamon? Taste is a bit sweet, some citrus hoppiness and ginger. Mouthfeel is a bit thin; I'm not crazy about this one, not enough in the belgian tradition.

A nice bottle but not necessarily a nice beer, reviewed from notes. Pours out a hazy light yellow, even green color with a fluffy/frothy two finger head that has beastly retention. Leaves thick lacing, everything is great but I am not a huge fan of the strange color. The smell is hard to get much. I do get Belgian yeast notes, like bread and spice. Some citrus peel comes through as well as some wheat-like malt. Needs more strength for sure. Taste is decent. Some wheat-like malt but it mostly just Belgian yeast notes. The spice notes are too much for me. Citrus peel comes into play but doesn't add much. The hop flavor is grassy and adds too much bitterness. The balance is out of whack on this beer. To me it ends up just tasting like fancy soap with a few redeeming aspects. The mouthfeel needs work. The carbonation and body are lacking way too much for such a big beer. It isn't creamy at all, it is just really watery and lacking carbonation. There is an oily aspect that I am not a fan of either. The bitter coat is also just too much. Drinkability is decent. The price is not worth it for the quality of this one. A decent taste but the mouthfeel just kills it. Flavors end up being out of balance/too much and soapy.

Bottle dated March 2010.

Appearance is BRIGHT straw-gold, the thin ring of head settles to spotted film in the top of the glass.

The smell jumps with juicy apricot and orange, yeast and sweet fruity sugars. Not complex, but matches the look: bright bright bright!

The taste is all over the place! More bright juicy flavours, bubble gum, orange, honey, spice, and lots of florals to begin with. Things take a left turn with a snap of tart lemon, ginger and herbs leading up to a bitter finish. Not very balanced (especially all that bitter tang toward the end going up against the too-sweet florals), but lots of different notes to pick up on.

Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side, not as lush and soft and effervescent as the best Tripels. Refreshing, though!

The drinkability is alright. Alcohol presence is definitely felt with a near instantaneous warming sensation... The finish is a little bit off-putting but the light body doesn't make it a chore to drink.
