Style: Witbier

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Formerly La Trappe

The world’s first and only white Trappist ale that continues to ferment slightly after bottling. Brewed using only water, wheat, and hops. No herbs are added. Saphir hops give the ale its citrusy aroma. A real thirst-quencher on a hot summer’s day that also makes for a delicious drink at any other time of the year.

It smells very minty which I personally don't like but other than that its a very good beer.

L: hazy straw gold under a thin ivory foam collar with fair retention.

S: It smells of spice and orange, faint wheat, a trace of banana, a hint of bubble gum and other Belgian yeast aromas.

T: Big fruit leads the flavors. Orange, orange peel, citrus, coriander and fresh bread dough spread out over the tongue. The hop bitterness is low, earthy and spicy with a very faint astringency from the spice on the finish joined by a splash of tartness.

F: The body is light and refreshing with medium carbonation.

O: I enjoyed this beer. It is very refreshing and drinkable.

L - golden yellow with a nice foamy white head
S & T - sour, but not in the citrussy, apple-y kind of way. This beer has isolated that crisp dryness that comes from the wheat realllyy well. Sunny, grassy-hoppy, wheaty freshness with some bread-doughy yeastiness
F - nice and drinkable without being watery. Refreshingly fizzy without becoming like a soda.

O - really refreshing, and something I definitely wouldn't mind chugging during a sunny summer day's lunch at a restaurant or a picknick. In fact, I prefer this over all other weizens and witbieren I've tried thusfar. The crisp dryness of the wheat, the bread-doughiness of the yeast... I just tastes like the wheat harvest in a bottle.

On tap in Greenville, SC.

Very large, foamy, off-white head over a sparkling amber body.
Heavily spiced banana bread in the nose.

Flavor: Spicy to the point of medicinal, but better than that description sounds. Lingering aftertaste of mixed spices and faint wheat.

Medium-light body with medium-high carbonation.

Aroma is Belgian yeast, bubblegum, spices and medium sweetness. The flavor is Belgian yeast, wheat, light citrus and a mix of spices and slight sweetness/tart in the finish.
