I've been to Cafe Biere three times. I enjoyed it each time for different reasons. The first time was because I was shocked to see a nice Belgian place in the middle of industrial Emeryville. They didn't have a menu yet, but they were happy to serve me beautiful beers.
The second time I went there with a friend of mine and had a delicious meal mixed with some nice beers.
And the third was on a date which worked out perfectly. It was not very crowded any of the times I went there (as it was on off nights) but the cozy atmosphere mixed with the excellent beer selection is defintiely worth it.

I think I may want to like this place more than I do. First off, it's small. I really like the small pub euro feel to it, but at the same time there isn't much room for expansion, and you often feel like you're sitting on top of the party next to you. At least beer dorks are usually nice people, right?
The beer selection is pretty good. There are some random picks on tap from time to time but there are usually some really great beers there, and their bottle list is pretty big... if they actually have what they say the do.
The food is really good. I haven't been disappointed here, but I haven't been blown away either. If it was a little less expensive I'd eat here weekly.
All said, it's a great place (the only place) in Emeryville to get a good beer and sit in a decent atmosphere. I'll be back.

This is a small little hole in the wall joint that is all about the pairing of good food and beer. The food is a bit out of my range, price wise, but the beer prices are actually very reasonable. The taps especially. Once again, very small, maximum capacity is around 30. cool spot.
I think that this place could easily become a sort of "Trappist-lite" for the Emeryville Biotech crowd. The group that was in there at the same time as me were all very "bro", and insisted on drinking round after round of Kwak. I think that they liked the glass that it came in more then anything. A place worth supporting.
