Over carbonated, not much if any whiskey on the nose, carbonation interferes with the flavor so it's hard to read. Sad as I actually enjoyed the standard version of Nihilist.
Ended up being a drain poor, carbonation ruined it.

Poured from a cork'n'cage bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Dark... nearly black pour with 1 finger of thin tannish head. Modest ring of lacing.
S: Roasty and sweet... booze and cocoa.
T/F: Rich and roasty... burned sugars and char. Boozy.... sweet sugars and bitter roast. Whiskey present but not overpowering.... mixed with dark chocolate and espresso. Medium bodied... complex and smooth. The finish is more bittersweet roast and whiskey.
O: A surprisingly good whiskey aged Russian Imperial. I had gotten 2 bottles of this.... drank the first one immediately and wasn't crazy excited but a year+ in the cellar really mellowed this beer and I very much enjoyed round 2.

Decent but not perfect, others said high carbonation, my bottle was not over carbonated at all, a little more would be better actually. Color was perfect, but had almost no head at all, completely gone after a minute. Was nice and malty but not enough whiskey barrel taste.

This beer might have been good, but the crazy carbonation totally kills it. Over foaming, and so much carbonic burn that it hurts. Almost a drain pour. Sad
