It came to me a very bright and clear gold, carbonated and sporting a finger of tight white head. Fluffy lacing padded the inside of the glass.

The aroma was quite sweet, the malt carrying berry fruit at the front, but dominated by a notable corn presence. A slight peppery tang of hops came through, but flitted away rapidly.

Upon tasting, the grain sweetness was prevalent, with a general fruitiness again clearly bested by a tongue-lashing of corn adjunct. The hops dried the grain out completely by the close, with the finish a brief remnant of grain followed by a tinny, grassy bitterness. It was neither disappointing or memorable, but rather, it just was.

Close to medium bodied, the sweet grain character was reasonably slick and coating, with the hops a lightly glowing reminder.

Well, I had no expectations, and in this case, that's just as well, because I was not impressed. I know, they're going for a theme here, a specific style, but for my palate, the result was just barely worth finishing. The slightly bumped-up ABV didn't seem to be a factor, nor would it become one, because one is all the flavor is going to allow. Sure, it's crisp and clean, but neither is a big accomplishment, considering what it had to sweep away.

Bright gold with a fluffy white head, the lightnin' showed good retention and a bit of lacing. The aroma was a bit sharp, but had some nice fruitiness and floral hops to balance the corny goodness. Sweet with light bitterness and low hop flavour. Corn and fruity esters were both evident. Medium bodied due to plenty of residual sugar (the finish was a bit syrupy). I enjoyed this beer - it was fun - but it was a little too sweet for my palate.

Finally, a malt liquor from a small brewery that I like!!!

Sly Fox's Chester County Lightning pours a clear golden body beneath a huge dollop of creamy white foam that holds really well and leaves some nice lace about the glass.

The nose is quite basic, as it should be, with a clean, generic "beer" aroma.

The flavor expresses light malt (there's obviously some adjunct in use here) with a bit of fruitiness (grape) and a very delicate note of alcohol.

It's crisp in the mouth with a dextrinous medium body.

Overall it's surprisingly similar to a macro-produced malt-liquor, except that it doesn't have the flaws that many of them have. Basic, but good.

Chester Co. Lightning is offered with a bright clear straw hued offering topped with an pillowy ivory head cap leaving some drippy lace.

Aroma is light and, at best, clean and slightly dusty and leafy.

First swigs: Dry pilsner-esque followed with a macro touch of corn chip and rice cake with a dry light hoppy finish. Fairly standard macro here, folks. Move along!

Sturdy feel with plenty of agressive zest.

Last swigs: Freshness from the brewpub (Royersford) gave this a life to an otherwise haggard style. A smile crossed my face when I thought about how Brian O'Reilly was using his talents to make a macro knockoff. If all Big3 Macros had this zest under their uniform coats, football stadiums would not be so beer drab. Brewed as a one-off for a Michael Jackson dinner. Don't worry, FeloniousMonk for this will not be a growler that you receive.

Beer is good. Happy wanna be macro beering.
