Devils Backbone Brewing Co. "Cran-Gose"
12 fl. oz. can, coded "08.08.17 06:02.85" and sampled on 04.05.18
$1.83 @ Cherry Hill Liquor, Wine & Beer (Wegmans), Cherry Hill, NJ''
Notes via stream of consciousness: Reviewed as a contemporary style Gose. It pours a hazy brass colored body with some orange highlights beneath a short but creamy head of white that's dropping before my eyes as I type. That's to be expected in a sour beer though. In the nose it's mineralish and a hint fruity. I get a little bit of malt as well. On to the flavor... tart but not puckering, fruity, mineralish, and lightly salty and earthy/spicy. I don't know that I'd initially think of cranberry but it comes through more clearly as it lingers in the finish. Very nice. I also would've imagined that cranberry might make it too tart but it hasn't. I'm pleasantly surprised. Light-medium in body and delicately effervescent and gently crisp. Very refreshing.

12oz can, tulip glass, canned 8/7/17.
Delicately pink, rosè color with a mostly white head crackling its way to a tight bubbled ring in a minute or so.
More of a classic Gose nose than most of the style I've tried lately; lactic twang, soft salinity, hint of red berry.
It's certainly tart, but it dissolves into cranberry and a clean, salty finish. I can pick out coriander, which adds to an earthy cranberry flavor.
Crisp, light body with ample carbonation, not biting.
Lovely to see Devils Backbone exceed with another style.

Huh the appearance isn't as red or pink as I expected from a cranberry ale looks like clear grapefruit juice really with a ton of carbonation making a full inch of froth. Smell is much grainier than I expected also for the gose style very little salt and brine just some cranberry in the nose and wheat. Taste is pretty sour and brine not getting much cranberry it must be more of a mixed flavor. Body is light enough it goes down smooth.
For a cranberry gose it's pretty good nothing special but its sour enough to get the job done.

Pours a clear rose gold producing 2 fingers of foamy, short-lived, off-white head that leaves a thin surface cap & collar ring but no lacing. Aroma is lactic, berry/cranberry, coriander, & mineral in a thin briney background. Taste is tangy, salty, cranberry, lemon/lime, coriander, s little grainy & faint mineral. Finishes tart & dry with lime citrus & brine predominant, less fruitiness than in the front. Aftertaste is dry, lightly tart, lime citrus & brine . Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation, crisp, faint prickle & very dry.

Pours a clear, rosy, copper color with a tight, white head that leaves little bits of lacing.
Smells of a touch of cranberry and some wheat.
Tastes of lightly tart cranberries layered over a some grainy malt. Wheat leads off with some sharpness before a bit of grainy malt adds in. Brine comes next before some cranberries on the backend. Finishes with a bit of lingering wheat.
Mouthfeel is medium with a slightly assertive amount of carbonation.
Overall, this is a decent gose but is too lightly done.
