Beer pours a hazy caramel color, not much head is present and lacing is barely noticeable. Smell is of toasty caramel malt and fruit. Taste is a bready caramel flavor with not much of the fruitiness I detected in the nose. Mouth fell is good, nice and full. Carbonation is good for the style.

Not sure why, but this was again not what I was expecting. I am used to cleaner, less bready Maibock beers that present more of the fruity side of the style with a good clean, crisp malt taste. The beer should get you ready for spring by being more refreshing, this one reminds me of lighter colored doppelbocks that I would look forward to in the late fall. I guess I have been ruined some of the German offerings. However, that being said, this is a well made beer, I am not sure I would call it a MaiBock though.

Damn, there's so much honey and fruit that I'm reminded of the great weizenbocks. This beer is drier though, and more drinkable. Lovely, mellow dough and bread from the malt, backed by spicy hops. It's been years since I enjoyed a maibock this much.

Nice color, golden. Very malty, breadlike with some smooth caramel notes. Overall, a little light on flavor but not bad, just a touch weak !!!!....close to the style

Poured from the bottle into a Libbey style pilsner glass.

Real beautiful crystal clear, nutty bronze colored body. Some streams of linear carbonation, not excessive either. Bright soft head, somewhat fluffy with a rich white top and repopulated bubbles. Has excellent hangtime, and great appearance.

Excellent mix of soft herbal tones, and a real nice spicy caramel on the nose. Aroma is very clean and a touch of light gaseous quality though, almost like a carbonated soda but far more pleasant. Quite a neat lager aroma.

Real excellent flavor. Crisp sensing caramel, nearly gets into crispy toffee tones in the mid palate. Slight herbal finish, with a more muted brown sugar flavor and soft bitterness. Crisp and very dry as well, but another sip makes a satisfying milky and thick rich refill.

An excellent solid Helles bock, they got the lagers dialed in there at DB.

Crystal clear and golden-amber in color with a 2 1/2 finger whitish head and copious carbonation bubbles rising throughout.

Light fruitiness on the nose with substantial clove and citrusy lemon/lime. Sweet bread dough with toffee and grassy hops.

Sweet toasty malt early, but it fades to dry with tart and light bitter citrus. A whiff of almond extract punches through.

Medium in body with moderate syrup. Silky and rather smooth, becoming drying and somewhat astringent.

This is a great beer. Sweet, toasty, dry, tart and bitter. A very well rounded brew.

On tap at the brewpub last weekend.

Pours a clear golden color with some visible carbonation and a white head that's a finger or two high. Good spotty lacing on the way down. The nose is very bready and doesn't have too much complexity, though it's fairly nice. The flavor ramps up a bit with some nice bready undertones along with a bit of crust and a chewy character. Very light hop presence and a bit of light alcohol in the finish, though it doesn't display the 7% that's listed. Another very good representation of the style.

12oz bottled 2/15/18 (50 days ago) poured into a.5L krug at fridge temp 7.4% ABV (per label). The beer pours bright golden amber in color with short lived light khaki head. The aroma is typical maibock with yeast and a little sweetness. The taste is oddly bitter up front settling into a weird nutty and burnt sugar caramel flavor. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied, highly (forced) carbonated and dry in the finish. There is a metallic note on the finish that I am not liking. Overall, fair. I try to rate based on experience outside of ownership, but this is not really a good beer. No noble hops, no bready or crackery malts, possible incomplete fermentation or lagering and no real upside.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is gold, good effervescence, head is off white with fine bubbles, head presents 1/2 inch thick and then dissipates to solid top.

Smell is malty sweet, some grass and herbs.

Taste is similar with solid malty sweetness, not overly caramely, good depth, hops are low in presence so the sweetness is in control; may.

Mouthfeel is crisp, strong carbonation which detracts a bit from the mouthfeel, then drying trying to counter the sweetness.

Overall a good helles bock, with a sweeter lean in flavor and presence but a highly carbonated mouthfeel.

L) Pours an effervescent amber with a small white head.

S) The nose is very clean, grainy, and slightly grassy.

T) The taste is very crisp, slightly sweet, with notes of straw, some freshly cut grass, and a lovely characteristic graininess.

F) The brew has a lovely light mouthfeel and a medium-high carbonation. Super refreshing.

O) Not bad for the style. Another solid beer to pair with pub food and fried junk.

This German-style Maibock boasts 7.4% ABV and a meager 24 IBUs along with a laundry list of malts such as Pilsner, Vienna, Dark Munich, CaraRed, and CaraFoam.

Look-This pours a brilliant orange gold color with a silky smooth medium bubble head with ample carbonation. The clarity is stunning.

Smell-I smell bready malts and toasted grains floating above a yeasty aroma.

Taste-I get a strong hit of carbonation first in terms of feel and the taste has typical yeasty esters and caramel malts common in Maibocks. But I also get like a citrus overtone and some lingering metallic flavors that were OK, but unexpected. I also get black pepper, grassiness, and toasted buttery bread. The Saaz hops lend their citrus flavors to the body and balances things out with the malts. It leaves a resinous coating on the tongue. It goes down smooth and refreshing.

Overall-It is a good Maibock. Not mind-blowing, but not sub-par or average. I’d say it is above average, but definitely noteworthy. Give it a try!

Poured out of a 12 oz bottle. Strawberry colored with a bit of lacing from a thin but decent head. Pineapple, apple, fruit juice on the nose. Slight caramel taste and a bit thin. Prickly alcohol shines through and it is a bit boozy. 25 ibu, which this Maibock is, usually gives this style perfect balance. This one leans toward the boozy side. Don’t get me wrong, it is quite quaffable but there are many better Maibocks, for what has become my favorite style.
