At first pour a nice thick crème colored head appears but it relaxes, sans lace to a thin yet solid, layer of crème colored blanket on top a dark, nearly opaque ruby red on the edges beer.
Nose at first supplies caramel but quickly turns to wine, little else.
Taste is similar to nose but reversed and embellished. We get the wine, which fades into caramel for just a moment until chocolate pops into the equation. The chocolate is chased away by a bitterness of independent creation (not from hops, dark chocolate or wine....just kind of appears) and allows the lack of balance to become more pronounced.
Feel is incredibly thin, but perhaps exaggerated by the preconceived notion that something this dark should have meat to it, but this one really is wicked watery. Finally, the exit leaves astringent bitterness in tow.
Glad I tried it, but not exactly a repeat purchase for me I am afraid.

Pours clear, reddish-brown, with 1/4 inch head. Taste is dark fruit, raisins, peat, and deep wooden bourbon taste. There is a touch of vanilla cream at the end. The beer has more bitterness and dryness than I am used to for the style, but is still more sweet than bitter. Really good sipper. This is another winner from a brewery that I have grown to like. I will pick this one up again.

A: This poured a cloudy dark mahogany with a little light tan head.
S: It smelled like earthy copper and nutty malt, with some oak and sweet caramel.
T: It tasted like rich caramel and oak, with some toffee and nutty malt and a little earthy copper. It had a clean mostly sweet aftertaste.
M: It was oily with moderate carbonation. Nice body.
D: This was a nice beer. The scent was bland, but the taste was rich, and the body was solid. The finish was smooth too, so it was easy to drink. No need to age, although it could probably last some years. Not quite top tier, but an enjoyable drink on a cold night.

Pours a light brown. Smells woody, with vanilla and even dirt, taste is woody, almost like you could chew on it. Overall a very good beer.
