12 oz can at the 2017 Suwannee Roots Revival Festival in Florida.
Bold for style with very good balance and a relatively heavy malt load.
Lively carbonation in a medium, amber body.

Appearance - Pours crystal clear golden color with thin white head that quickly dissipates.

Aroma - Very light hops with a touch of malts and sweet caramel.

Taste - A mixture of bitter hops and malts with a slight floral aftertaste. There is also some orange peel in the flavor.

Feel - High side of medium little heavier than a normal pale ale with a dry bitter finish.

Overall - A decent pale ale slightly more bitter than expected but a nice flavor.

Clear golden color with a finger of dense white head.

Light earthy hops in the aroma. Light tasting, with a mix of earthy, tea-like malts and hops and a slight caramel sweetness. Fairly dry, dully bitter finish.

Medium to heavy bodied for the style, with relatively low carbonation.

Refreshing enough, but not much going for it beyond that.

One-finger thick, off-white head. Mild haze to the dark gold color. One initial ring of lace then there is a mixture of spots and streaks.

Semi-earthy, semi-pale malt initial aroma. Light, fresh hop nose.

This is a strong pale ale with a solid malt base with a prickly hop kick. This is strongest at the swallow but it creates a very long aftertaste. The body is richer than most but the carbonation level is also high. There’s a touch of earthiness to the aftertaste but not too much.

On tap 10 June 2016 at the Devil's Backbone Outpost north of Lexington, Virginia.

Straw beer with a white head. Nose dominated by mild leafy hops, not particularly strong. Taste profile: the hops rise and fall smoothly over a lean malt base, but rather uncomplicated overall. Leaves a lightly oily, bitter aftertaste. Nothing out of character with the style, just not too exciting. Hard to find anything more than 3.5 scores across the board here. Competent, but I know this place makes more exciting beers. On the other hand, for fun I would like to do a blind comparison with this, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and one or two other "true" pale ales.

Poured from a can into a nonic glass. The color was a slightly hazy orange/yellow. The smell was somewhat light. I enjoyed the taste. It is exactly what I expected from a pale ale.

I don't understand the low ratings on this beer. It's nothing extraordinary, but it has nice citrus and pine flavors from the hops with a balanced crackery malt backbone.

Had this one few times. Brewery is nearby here in Va. Light, crisp touch of pine resin flavor. No head, bubbly. Overall better than the awful DB lager, which seems to be everywhere around here some unknown reason. Nothing special but I'd certainly not turn one down if offered.
