About a week old, deschutes tulip.

Clear golden orange pour with carbonation as expected. Decent white head. Already looks too dark/malty.

Smells are from the richer and sweeter region of hopville. Some fresh earthy aspects (it is only a week old). Carmel sweetness follows the hop aromas.

Tastes are straightforward pine and citrus, but lacking the bright, crisp, resinous punch found in top shelf IPAs. Carmel malts provide balance, too much balance for my tastes.

Mouthfeel lacks the bite, the resin, the chewiness. On the sweeter and heavier side, but still easy drinking.

Nothing to get too excited about, but a decent IPA, I guess.

edit: had it a few more times out of the bottle, better drinking. Maybe they're still working out the kinks. Still on the richer/sweeter side, but the hops popped a bit more, flavors more impressive.

I poured this from a bottle into a clear teardrop glass. It pours a beautiful dark golden, much darker than I thought it would be. I'm not a huge hops guy, but I like this one a lot. Perfectly carbonated, a bit on the low side.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 16 oz can on June 18, 2016. Look is bright gold/orange color with a creamy two-finger white head and some lingering lacing. Smell is pine, orange, grass and floral with toast and bread malt aromas. Taste is pine, orange, earth and leafy hops with bread malt flavors. Feel is medium in body with moderate carbonation and a creamy finish.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Amber-orange with thin off-white head and spotty lacing.

Smell: A little mild and fairly standard. Some citrus, but more floral, earthy and spicy.

Taste: Fairly large malt backbone of caramel and toast. Mix of citrusy, floral and spicy hops. Well balanced and very tasty, but the mix of flavors means nothing really stand out. Somewhat bitter.

Feel: Medium-full body that is pretty smooth with relatively low carbonation. Fairly dry finish.

Overall: While this is definitely a good beer, IMO, it is not as great as recent, great hoppy MN beers from Summit (Saga), Indeed (Day Tripper), Brau Brothers (HopSession) and Steel Toe (Size 7), plus the "old" standby Furious.

L: brilliant gold to amber
S: Resiny citrus nose.
T: Starts malty and then goes through several hop permutations from fruity, resiny to piney citrus with lingering hop bitter. Dries out on the finish
F: Medium body and carbonation.
O: A decent beer that is nice to find on tap.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass.

Appearance: Pours a deep copper amber orange with a lot of rising bubbles. Big four finger off white head with very good retention. Leaves a lot of lacing around the glass.

Smell: A grassy and citrus hop forward aroma that is fairly balanced by the malts. Grassy and earthy hops along with citrus orange, grapefruit, mango, and lemon. Floral with some hints of pine resin spice. A very noticeable malt presence with hints of sweet caramel, toffee, biscuit, and yeast. A pretty balanced overall aroma.

Taste: Like the smell previews, a mix of grassy and juicy hops with a solid balance of malts. Upfront is a taste of citrus orange, grapefruit, mango, and lemon. Earthy hops with a very grassy and floral taste. Also some spicy pine resin in the mix. Solid bready malt presence with notes of caramel, biscuit, toffee, and yeast. Hops and malts are pretty balanced here.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Fairly juicy and chewy. Has a fairly dry finish.

Overall: A pretty good IPA. Not quite in the West Coast style as there is more of a malt balance here. A pretty solid mix.

As a Minnesota native I live about 15 minutes from Lift Bridge and I love what they have done in Stillwater.

Hop Dish is a solid IPA and is very balanced and drinkable. However in the vast world of IPA's this is the Scandanavian version; it doesn't make waves and it doesn't make a stand. Compared to the offering's from Surly and Summit it is a little weak. Like most IPAs it is much better on tap than bottled.
