Very Good
Citra Pale AleCitra Pale Ale
Notes: Prominently featuring Citra hops, our Citra Pale Ale delivers pungent grapefruit and tropical fruit aromas on the nose with a semi-dry finish. Juicy notes imparted by the hops pair with the light caramel malt character to balance this drinkable, “go-to” American Pale Ale.

Cittra hops.. Upslope in baseball terms hit an RBI double with this under rated go to. Nothing fancy, just crisp, slightly hoppy, slighlty bitter brew. Delicious, and subtle.

Hmm, I'm used to juicier Citra beer. This one has more of a herbal grassy note I'd associate with Cascade. I still get orange peel and grapefruit, but nothing tropical. I appreciate the balance of toasty malt popping through and overall really like the beer. If they dropped the ABV by a point, it'd make an incredible session beer.

Like many others, my favorite hop right now is Citra and I also really like Upslope. So I was very intrigued/excited by this beer.

On tap at a local craft bar. Poured into a pint glass

L- Copper, orange and mostly clear. Finger width head quickly faded into minimal lacing as I sip away.
S- Pretty malty upfront. Sweet caramel then moves into citrusy hops, mostly orange peel. It's pleasant but the hops are a little lost in the malt to me. I am getting over a cold so that really could be playing into this review (will try and revisit it)
T- Sweet caramel base with bitter citrusy hops on top. Orange peel, grapefruit in the finish. Tasty, actually reminds me of a smaller grapefruit sculpin with much more subdued flavors.
F- crisp, and dry. It is weird because it starts fairly sweet and full but takes an abrupt turn to a bitter and dry finish. In my opinion it takes away from the juiciness that Citra gives me in other beers.
O- Great APA. I was a little disappointed knowing how these hops can be presented (Zombie Dust in particular) and felt that it didn't quite do what it could with the ingredients given. Again my recent cold could really have played a factor in this. With that said it is definitely a great offering from a great brewery.

12 oz can best by Nov. 9th, 2018. Poured into Sierra Nevada swirl glass.

Nice golden color, don't think I could get this beautiful clear glow if I tried. Head is tall and destroys the glass completely.

Clean pale 2 row on the nose with very basic Citra aromas (orange pith, grapefruit rind) and a touch of caramel nuttiness.

Flavor comes up sort of empty at first, with faint hints of floral and citrus notes, but then explodes with floral notes and orange pith. Slight nutty caramel malt and some faint grapefruit. Hints of freshness (pine or evergreen or spearmint) on the finish.

Feel is crisp, carbonated, light bodied, drinks like a light beer almost. Not a whole lot of substance. Has a surprising amount of citrus pucker though, which is interesting.

Overall, a somewhat simple pale, you could maybe call it boring even. It's an easy drinker. Probably something you'd get on a flight sampler at most breweries. Not that it's a bad thing because a lot of people like those. It clocks in at 6% but feels/tastes like it's around 4%. Whether you calculate that on your palate as easy drinking or boring depends on your style preferences.

Pours a nice filtered gold, solid head, good looking beer. Following suit of the citra single hop, smells of orange, lemon, some slight mango. The taste follows the nose with tons of citrus in the face with a nice crisp malt backbone and almost limey finish. Feel is great carbonation is perfect and goes down smooth. Great apa comparable to Zombie Dust in flavor

12oz can. 9/28/18 best by date. Appearance: Clear Golden with a thick fluffy foam head and decent lacing
Aroma: Citrus peel, floral, and fresh grapefruit over a light breadiness
Taste: Light crackery malt sweetness, some light grapefruit, followed by a fairly strong bitterness against the light malt
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a crisp, moderate carbonation
Finish: Grapefruit bitterness dominates the finish, lingering long after the swallow. A touch of retronasally oxidation
Overall: Pretty solid, crisp, easy drinking pale ale that has a strong floral and grapefruit citra character throughout

The citrus flavor is very subtle and goes in perfect balance in this APA. Great job fitting with the style. Very refreshing summer brew

Tons of nice lacing but with no head. Color is a slightly cloudy orange tangerine. Aroma is also of orange, orange blossom, lemon, lime, malt, rubbing alcohol, banana, mango. Palate is of light fresh pine needles, lemon, grapefruit, orange, maple syrup, bitterness is medium and long and fitting for a pale ale- pretty simple palate. Body is medium and lightly syrupy. Carbonation is nicely palate tingling even through the finish. Pros lacing, orange blossom, nice fitting bitterness, pretty easy drinking. Cons no head, pretty simple palate, kinda syrupy. 87/100.
