This beer is going to be divisive. After 1-2 sips I pretty much knew why: it's good beer, but it's not an IPA.

It's got a copper/reddish brown color with a billowing head from a normal pour. It looks like a typical DIPA or big red might.
However you'll find that the flavor is pretty malty. Biscuity with caramel and hints of toffee come out ahead of the hops. You'll pick up some tropical fruit flavors and pine from the hops, but it's mainly in the nose and as an afterthought in the flavor. Even the finish is more of a bready malty flavor.
It drinks easy for over 7% and having several is really only limited by the circumstances and your tolerance.

Here's the dilemma: As an IPA, this beer is pretty weak. However as a double red or some kind of "imperial" ESB it's quite good. The key is that the hop profile takes a pretty big backseat to the malt. While I don't mind that, if they're going to call it an IPA - that's not going to score points. At 7.2%, you also can't use the "It's English" argument.
It's a good beer that just isn't excelling at the right things as an IPA. Hence why I think the ratings vary from very high to very low.
I recommend buying it, but remember that it isn't much of an IPA :) If it were listed as an different style I'd probably give it closer to a 4.

Revisited this IPA last night, had been awhile. Very serviceable IPA that will keep a number of beer drinkers happy. Nice balance, character and ABV % Great choice for those entering the realm of IPAs. Also a very good price and value for a 6-pack. Colorado Craft in a can, well done Upslope!

UpSlope IPA was a red-amber in my pint glass with a thin white head. The head dissipated to whips fast but did leave nice lacing on the glass for the drink. The nose was packed with floral hops and was crisp and clean. The taste followed the nose well and presented a clean hop burst on the to the that meshed nicely with a slightly sweet but not sticky aftertaste. This was very good IPA that I considered above average. It's a good bet for IPA fans bu won't overpower the new-to-micro beer fan, either. A good choice and a nice IPA!
