The first time I tried this light yellow beer I was not expecting this great hoppy aroma. It is also really tasty and you can drink it anytime due to the low alcohol. I think to make a beer that tasty with such low alcohol is an art and it's very difficult. Unfortunately it is no easy to get and even more difficult to get it really fresh.
But it is the beer you can have always with you.

Can. Hazy straw. Frothy head. Effervescent.
Grass and citrus fruit on the nose.
Demi-sec. Decent astringency. Grapefruit.
Light body.
Quite decent despite the ABV.

Pours cloudy wheat coloured, high wispy white head. Aroma is mild mango and passionfruit with some juicy hop. Beer is tangy-bitter on first sip with some bitter mango skin and passionfruit seed coming in on the draw before it turns to biscuit hops. Semi bittersweet on the afters. Feel is light and watery with some wetness on the backend, minimal carbonation.

This is no where near as bad as I was expecting. Yes it's thin and not packing as much flavour as you'd expect for a normal beer, but considering what it's managed to achieve with 2.5%, it's good. Very sessionable.

At La Estraza. Can. In Brooklyn pint glaas. At lunch with Pedro & Alberto. With Thai Pad. Good use of citric hops, with a great initial nose and a noticeable bitterness but too watery even for its low ABV.

Brief impressions:

A clean drinking IPA with a shocking amount of flavour for its low ABV, Johnny Low is as sessionable as they come - and doesn't bother with the "session IPA" marketing B.S. A worthwhile drinkable brew from Lervig with ample hop bitterness served over a pale malt base. The clean mouthfeel sets off the straightforward no-nonsense hop bite nicely. Well put together, if a bit imbalanced.

High C+ (3.25) / ABOVE AVERAGE

Looks more like a lager or a blonde ale than your typical IPA. Very slightly cloudy golden yellow with a frail white head. Smells weak. Like an adjunct lager with the faintest whiff of passion fruity/grapefruity hops. Tastes much stronger than it smells, with a pleasant but fleeting rush of caramel malt flavor, followed by an out-of-whack astringent bitterness. Hop flavor is limited to a sort of one-note grapefruit pith thing, and the finish is almost unpleasantly bitter and dry. Drinks sort of like white grapefruit juice. Not great. Just had a Nanny State, which manages to be more flavorful and much more balanced at an even lower ABV. Possible food pairings: mild curries, asparagus, chicory, watercress, shio ramen.

Very impressive given its very low ABV (only 2.5%). It has a light body as expected but a massive hop smell and taste as any IPA should. It is very refreshing and pleasant.
The work done here is remarkable : it's the betteer low ABV beer I had. Could drink it all night long without remorse !
