Night Jump pours deep black with a dark roasted head of foam. Note the smell of barrel and the full scent of the malts. There is a rich flavor complemented by the whiskey barrel aging and the cacao nibs. We use more hops than the 18th century Brits did. Best if consumed after doing a night jump over enemy territory.

Probably Aviator's best production. Many imperials and doubles get rated higher mostly because of the pumped up alcohol, but this one gets everything right--the toasty malt, the hops, yes the pumped up alcohol. It's a really, really good, perfectly -balanced beer.

Pours fairly thick and syrupy, impervious to light, minimal head. Aroma is huge - tons of chocolate, loads of bourbon barrel, touch of vanilla and coconut in the background. Taste follows nose - lots of dark chocolate, tons of barrel, followed by mocha, vanilla, and a mild bitter espresso finish. Mouthfeel is creamy and medium bodied. Overall this was a very good beer, my only complaint is the slightly astringent aftertaste, which I blame on the age of the beer and can- this beer belongs in a bottle.

2017 vintage. I can't fully make out the canning date, but believe it is 08/11/17.
A: 16 oz can poured at cellar temperature into a red wine glass. Dark black with brown hues. Half-finger, tan head quickly dissipated into a thin coating.
S: Roasted malt. Oak. Mild whiskey. Milk chocolate.
T: More roasted malt. Barrel begins to peek behind the malt. Subtle chocolate?
F: Minimal carbonation. A touch thin. Different than years past.
O: A very different beer from previous years and it leaves me yearning for more. I enjoy the new 16 oz format and the fact it does not drink like 13%, but the beer is missing that mouthfeel, chocolate syrup and whiskey notes that took it to another level. A fraction of its former self.

Pours a brown so deep it appears appears black (with deep garnet highlights when held to bright light) producing 1.5 fingers of frothy, shortlived, mocha head that leaves pasty wash (topped by webs) of sticky lacing. Aroma is a smokey, boozy, burnt chocolate, like smoked Hershey's chocolate syrup laced with bourbon. Swimming in the background are hints of molasses, bitter coffee, prune, anise & char. Taste is boozy & bittersweet, burnt & smokey malts. Bourbon heavy, chocolate syrup, oak tannins, creamed coffee & prune. Finishes sweet with a slight phenolic/plastic hint mixed with chocolate cherry cordials, a deep roast, bitterness & alcohol that becomes a increasingly bitter, roasted, slightly burnt, chocolatey, yet slightly chalky aftertaste. Not that I have ever done it but the experience is similar to what I imagine eating chocolate cream drops and chasing them with watered down bourbon might be like. Mouthfeel is heavy bodied with light carbonation, silky & creamy, alcohol spiciness, very chewy & mouth coating.

Really really tasty. Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The only thing holding it back from a 4.5 is that it's a bit hoppy and I'm not a huge fan of overly hoppy stouts.

Pours almost black with a thin head, I did pour easy because of the particular glass I was using. Smell is roast, chocolate, and a bit of barrel. Taste followed the nose, as it warmed it was more barrel influenced. Medium mouthfeel, overall good beer.
