12 ounce can poured into an Eau Benite glass. They've got the appearance dialed in; this stuff is unfiltered way past the point of haziness and there's a huge soapy head that throws the lace left and right.

Otherwise... there's some work to be done here. An odd cardboardish aroma overpowers more appropriate smells of leafy and citric hops. The cardboard continues to rear its ugly head as the dominant flavor. Perhaps something went wrong with this particular can; there's a nice pop of bitterness and what seems to be a decent beer somewhere in there, but the off flavor just can't be overlooked. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. I'm inclined to give this a shot another time, perhaps in a bottle or on tap instead.

On cask at The Wooden Nickel serve in a slim glass a murky yellow with a nice frothy khaki head. Aroma is slight crisp citrus hops an sweet malts. The taste is a nice amount of crisp citrus hops alongside sweet caramel malts. The beer is quite light, crisp and smooth with mild carbonation. This is a great beer in cask, one I would order again in a heartbeat!

A: The beer is very hazy yellowish amber in color—too hazy to see if there is any visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that has good retention properties and consistently left a short head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of caramel malts are present in the nose along with hints of tropical fruit hops.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of caramel malts, although the hops are a little stronger and contribute notes of tropical fruits and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a malt-forward IPA, but the tropical fruit hops make this a little interesting and don't taste like an IPA from the early 2000s.

Generous extra from jpmclaug. Thanks!

Appearance: Pale amber pour with a dense and lasting two finger head.

Smell: Candied orange and grapefruit, a little marijuana and pine. Some malty sweetness is noticeable, but not enough to detract. Faint notes of fresh bread. Smells pretty nice, but it isn't as explosive as some of the better west coast IPAs.

Palate: Grapefruit up front, with an undercurrent of weed and resin. Faintly herbal and spicy. On the lighter side of medium-bodied, with a very nicely dialed in bitterness. Malt is present but doesn't interfere with the hops much, contributing a bit of sugar cookie sweetness and lesser notes of fresh bread.

Overall: A pretty damn solid IPA from a brewery that's new to me, coming from a state that isn't exactly known for great IPAs.

This beer is very hoppy and also tastes great. Aviator hit a homerun with this one! I was surprised the first time I had a taste of this tasty beer because the hops were strong. After drinking I could not drink too many other IPA's as they tasted more bland. I think that once you try this full flavor IPA you will enjoy the robust taste. The other positive note is that it is made in North Carolina and our state has the best beers;)

A lovely day up in the mountains that let me try a huge sample of some new NC locals. Always thrilled when a day works out like this one did.

The first one I actually came up to on this day, I needed something quick and clean and it delivered. Huge foamy pour yielded three inches of white on the top of the glass that only gradually decided to settled down and come back to earth. Still though once it did the nice medium golden amber shined through quite well and left a nice look overall on the glass. Aroma is light citric hops, grapefruit, pineapple, and a touch of bready grains as it starts to warm. A little but light on the palate the flavors just do not seem to have the punch they need, but it comes across as light and refreshing with a healthy dose of bitter, drying finish.

Overall a nicely done, and very easily session able IPA. I would have no issue at all with having more then one of these.

From a 12oz can at the beach.

Very raw bitterness that lingers long after. Needs a some fruit presence in the hops to score it higher but a nice IPA regardless

Pours a golden amber with a frothy head that almost, but not quite dissipates, leaving a thin film of foam. Slight delicate strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma is fresh and mildly citrus.

Taste surprises me---mostly pine, herbal and a hint of styptic pencil. From the aroma I expected more citrus. I had this on tap in Raleigh a few months ago and remember it being much more citrus with a finish that carried that hint of sweetness a citrus IPA will bring. This one starts and ends assertively bitter.

Mouthfeel is strong on carbonation with a medium body.

If you like a good, bold astringent IPA, this one's for you. I'd definitely drink this again, preferably on tap.

Overall a very decent beer picked up at Currituck BBQ. Good, creaminess but with 5 different hop varieties the taste felt muddled. Mix of both citrus and pine and then maybe a touch too much malt. Not bad, not great.
