A: Pours a slightly hazy straw yellow with a finger of white head that fades into a thin ring with little lacing.

S: Belgian spices with a lot of bubblegum and candy sugar up front. The finish has aromas of sweet breads and some steamed veggies.

T: Belgian spices with candy sugar here as well. The yeast is a bit more present here with sweet bread flavors. There is also a steamed vegetable quality here as well.

M: Medium-light body with lowish carbonation, this beer is a bit watery.

O: A pretty mediocre tripel overall. The steamed veggie quality is a bit much and it's otherwise a bit watery and bland.

Poured into a large tulip glass a honey golden with a sticky white head that settled slowly into a soapy looking mass.Pilsner malt,leafy/medicinal hops, and spiced phenols in the nose, the hops are a major factor here.Leafy and herbal hops and pilsner malt flavors the hops really give of a herbal kick as it warms, phenols in the form of spice in the finish.A well made tripel it's true to form with yeasty flavors but a decent shot of leafy hops made it more enjoyable for me.

Served in a pint glass on-tap at the Aviator Brewery (in the hanger!!)

Ruddy gold in color with a slight cloudiness. Nice 2 fingers or so of dense white foam that was relatively persistent, leaving behind some respectable lace.

Aromas were fairly clean with plenty of bready sweet spicy malts. If you are familiar with trippels, this carries a familiar scent.

A fairly vibrant push of flavor comes forth immediately as it rolls over the tongue, some light malt sweetness, a little bit of yeast, some fruit zest & coriander, all staying pretty tight through the experience. The finish was relatively quick but with a touch of warming to remind you that it's no lightweight. The linger carries a bit more of that spicy fruitiness. Pretty nice.

The carbonation was decent on this but I thought it was a bit course. I nice light persistent carbonation would add a much needed creaminess to this brew and enhance the mouthfeel. The overall drinkability was very good in my opinion and I thanked the brewer personally for not making it too sweet! Nice brew and great people at the brewery. Definitely check it out if you get the chance!

This golden colored tripel has a decent head and lacing. The rather floral aroma features fruity Belgian yeast with, perhaps, a bit less banana/clove and a bit more wheat than usual. The taste is relatively bitter and tart with some sweet balance; more tart than sweet or bitter. Complex. Near medium body; smooth with low (a tad too low?) carbonation.

O: a decent tripel with well hidden alcohol.

This beer is very pale, a light yellow with active bubbling rising to the top to continue building up a strong fluffy, creamy pure white head. Retention is good, and it falls quite slowly from just over one finger to a heavy billowing foam. Lacing is left pretty thickly in both patches and heavy spotting in plenty.
The nose is light, but I get mostly spicing over some pale fruits and a hint of banana sneaking out.
A little peppery spice, banana and clove are strong and, as a pleasant surprise, some floral and herbal hops bitterness come out strong.
The body is light and the carbonation is moderate. The crispness up front stays all the way, and there's a good smoothness alongside it. The finish leans dry as hops pull out the rest of the way.

12oz can, day 5 of the Craft Beer Advent Calendar - it looks like the rep's shit packaging job continues with this one. Oh, and nice to get a state tick without actually having to go there, at this stage in the game.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow colour, with one skinny finger of weakly foamy, and mostly just lazily bubbly dirty white head, which leaves a bit of ocean swell lace around the glass as things slowly sink away.

It smells of grainy, doughy caramel malt, free-range candy sugar, subtle apple and pear fruity notes, white pepper and clove, earthy yeast, and a peppy leafy, floral, and above all perfumed hoppiness. The taste is more bready, grainy caramel malt, sweet banana chip and some further white grape juice fruitiness, muddled savoury spice, a slight toasted biscuity thing, subtle and yet gritty yeast, and leafy, weedy, and kind of soapy hops - the booze minding its manners, for the most part.

The bubbles are quite tame in their generally supportive and thus taciturn frothiness, the body a solid middleweight, and sort of smooth, that as yet hovering alcohol measure starting to get just a wee bit jumpy. It finishes off-dry, barely, as the malt doesn't falter, rather the rest of its co-stars keep a stiff and lingering upper lip.

Overall, one of the better iterations of this style that I've come across, and in a can, at that. Easy to drink, sure, at least until that last sip from the glass, where one comes to the realization of a veritable 18+ proof warming. Decent stuff.

Pours a light gold with half an inch of head with good retention. Smells a little musty with clove spice and Belgian yeast coming through. Taste is yeast, clove spice, and mild fruitiness. Lighter than expected, crisp, and dangerously drinkable for the ABV.

From the nose to the finish, this Tripel's profile is pretty mild. Overall though, the right flavors come through however mild, and it's highly quaffable.

Almost a honey like sweetness from the raw alcohol flavor. Not to hoppy ,light but strong.

Aviator Brewing Co. "Devil's Tramping Ground Tripel"
on tap at the Distillery, Savannah, GA 21 Dec 2014

Appearance: Clear deep gold body beneath a short head of bright white. Decent head retention. Nice spotty walls of lace.

Aroma: Fruity with apple, pear and some citrusy pith; sugary malt, light spice/clove phenols. Peppery. Grassy.

Flavor: Sweet malt. Somewhat bready. Green apple. Clove-like phenols. Spice. Peppery. Alcohol is well hidden. Moderate bitterness of under 40 IBUs, but somehow pulled together. Delicately herbal, grassy, and floral. Finishes drying.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a dextrinous edge and a moderate carbonation.

Overall: I'm not sure that it quite lives up to the name unless the devil is a fat, sweet sissy. Decent enough though.
