Marginal beer, particularly for the style. Americo's can.

Poured from a growler into a nonic glass. Color is light gold and clear. Aroma is slight fruit and some malt and some horse blanket. Taste is sweet and some fruit as expected initially, finish is drier. Aftertaste is some fruit and some funk. Carbonation is good, as is the lacing. Alcohol is well hidden. Dry finish. Overall, good. I liked it.

Look: light gold, cloudy due to being unfiltered

Smell: sweet, a bit floral, subtle

Taste: sweet, floral with a bit of pollen, bitter-sweet hops, bite of high alcohol content near end, honey aftertaste

Feel: thick, honey-style lingering on tongue

Overall: very solid, drinkable

Found this can in my sister’s fridge, apparently been in there since last Christmas… apparently no one desired to try it. Maybe the devil on the can scared them off, not me though - we Buddhist’s don’t go in for that fire and brimstone stuff… our demons are WAY cooler.

Appearance: Some bright and clear high protein urine colour - lol - I mean golden yellow. A decent finger plus of dusty white, weak, and sudsy foam on top but rapidly sucks sucked back in to the liquid and doesn’t really leave much lace at all, anywhere on the glass.

Aromatics: A grainy wheat malt with light citrus like an under ripe mandarin or pomelo. Mild sweetness; caramel sweet bread, and ever so subtle floral hop.

Taste: Really nice, even given its “age”. Has a bit of grape fruitiness and fresh bread, the yeast providing a really good transport of the bitters and sweeteners. It has a very nice spice tucked underneath the toasted biscuit and hop juice.

Palate: Very robust medium weight with a nice juicy mouthfeel and a warming in the finish. The carbonation is not overly prominent but it is there, like the soft jazz that plays in the background of a bookstore - its there you just don’t really notice it right away. It holds on through the finish which is dry and clean, and that warming spice at the back doing wonders to keep the chills out.

Overall: Really nice flavour profile and palate feel. The aromatics were a wee bit on the soft side, and the looks were pretty average.

Pairing : I really like the “bready” character in this brew and with the warming spiciness I think I’d like to amplify it a bit. Mini (aka slider style) burgers with Salted Butter Pan Buns for the bun casing. Enhancing the buttery and yeasty nature of the beer and adding a bit of saltiness to it.

Slightly hazy yellow with white head. Aroma has grains, quite cloying yeast character and booze. Taste starts sweet and malty with some sugar and yeast notes. Medium body with smooth mouthfeel. Not really my type of beer.

Tasted from a 12oz can into a wine glass. Moderately cloudy with very little head. Aromas of sharp, slightly skunky noble hops. Flavors are more pleasant than aromas, with low Belgian yeast playing over tripel maltiness; however, there is still a green, funky hop flavor that is not good. Mouthfeel is light, with a low carbonation. Overall, not a great example of the style.

Straw colored with scattered lace left behind from a solid 1" head.
Smell is hoppier than expected with a hint of floral & sweetness.
Taste hops first quickly followed by grape-like sweetness & a bit of funk. Odd combo.
Medium plus body, light carbonation. Warming. Sweetness lingers but aftertaste is reminiscent of a farmhouse beer. Interesting but not enough for a second.
