Very Good
StrawberryStrawberry
Notes: Lindemans first new fruited lambic in over a decade. Choosing strawberry, one of the most noble of fruits, was easy: the complex sweetness of the fruit matches perfectly with the sourness of lambic, resulting in a unique balanced marriage of sweet and sour.

Brouwerij Lindemans "Lindemans Strawberry"
750 ml green glass bottle, corked and caged
$11.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Look: Hazy (bottle conditioned) orange body topped by a creamy white head that leaves excellent lace throughout the glass. Very good 'plus' head retention and excellent lacing.

Smell: The aroma is earthy, woody, and softly mineralish with light notes of fruit but nothing specifically like strawberry.

Taste: The flavor follows the aroma in that it remains a bit earthy/mineralish and the fruit isn't quite directly like strawberry - at least not like the fruits come through in their other beers. Of course strawberry is a mild fruit, and all of the flavor is concentrated along the skin. Still, it's berry like fruitiness works well with the sweetish and mildly tart malt. It's not too sweet, but sweet, and also acidic - nicely balanced.

Feel: The body is medium with a lightly zesty carbonation.

Overall: Makes a great apertif or after-dinner drink. Because of it sweetish and clean tasting character, the Lindeman's brands make a good entry into flavored lambics.

Look: Pink/rose colored ale, thin head of white, proper lacing.

Smell: Strawberry jam, thick and luscious.

Taste: Strawberry sweet at the front, reminds me of the fruit roll-ups I'd eat as a kid. The sour of a lambic comes in at the aftertaste, lending a degree of complexity to what is otherwise solely a fruit explosion - almost too much, really.

Feel: Light, vanishes quickly from the palate.

Overall: This may not appeal to a lot of beer drinkers, but to those who appreciate the style it is refreshing, fruity lambic that develops a little complexity as it warms and in the aftertaste. Relatively low ABV and the sweetness may also appeal to those who find hops and/or the stronger beers a little too much for them. Too sweet to drink every day but a lovely spring/summer beer to sip on the patio at dusk.

Incredibly stable, true to the strawberry fruit and in high celebratory of the history of beer with fruit, the brewers-slash-blenders of Lindemans turn their attention to the strawberry flavor for a juicy brightness, a balancing tartness and an overall summery flavor and feel.

Lindemans Strawberry Lambic kicks off with a condensed mauve color and visual weight. While little of lace accumulates on the surface, the beer leads with an intense aromatic display of true-to-form strawberry. Tart, savory and juicy, the nose leads to a juicy malt and fruit taste that's indistinguishable from soda pop and wine cooler.

But not all is loss as the ale soon refutes with a ceretain wine-like tannin and vinous twang. The middle palate retains the bulk of sweetness that the early palate suggests while the ale trends true to the strawberry fruit with a twinge of red wine and fruit liquor for ease and familiarity

Sweet to finish, its only the beer's own fruit tartness that offers much of a balance to the lingering malts- once again reinforcing the notion of wine cooler and soda pop in a medium dessert finish.

Poured from a bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Clear red/maroon pour with 2 fingers of foamy pink-tinged head. Great lacing.

S: Strawberries and summer fruit. Sweet and mild funk.

T/F: Light and fruity... sweet strawberry.. somewhat 1-dimensional but still delicious. Yeast and mild funk, but mostly a blast of strawberry. Light... well carbonated.

O: A delicious strawberry fruit beer. Light and easy drinking... one you and your non-beer drinking friends can both enjoy.

Look: Reddish orange with almost no white head.

Smell: Strong fermented strawberries with a hint of malt.

Taste: Strong strawberry flavor over anything else. Barely a hint of malt.

Mouthfeel: Fairly thick and highly carbonated.

Overall: Barely even a beer at this point. So fruity it could be a cider.

12oz bottle, date stamp rubbed off. Served in a Lindemans flute glass.

Appearance: Clear coppery color with a bit of a strawberry red color as well. Persistent white head with some notable lacing.

Smell: Strawberry with a bit of underlying sourness.

Taste: Tart strawberry, along with some other berry notes (I got a bit of raspberry as well). Mild sour finish.

Mouthfeel: Rich - juicy with good carbonation and a dry finish as well.

Overall / Drinkability: Refreshing and a good strawberry beer. I think I need to pair this with a dessert.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/29/2017. Pours slightly hazy pinkish/reddish orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky light pink head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy strawberries, fruit jam/seeds, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, red grape, wheat, bread, and candi sugar; with light notes of hay, straw, grass, pepper, funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of strawberries, fruity/earthy yeast, pale malt, and candi sugar sweetness; with great strength. Taste of huge juicy/tart/tangy strawberries, fruit jam/seeds, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, red grape, wheat, bread, and candi sugar; with light notes of hay, straw, grass, pepper, funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruit tang/tartness, lactic sourness, and light bitter/yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of juicy/tart/tangy strawberries, fruit jam/seeds, lemon, peach, pear, red apple, red grape, wheat, bread, candi sugar, pepper, hay, straw, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of strawberries, fruity/earthy yeast, pale malt, and candi sugar sweetness; with an awesome malt/tart/tangy/sour balance; with zero puckering/cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/sour/tangy fruit and carbonation. Fairly crisp finishing. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/grainy, acidic/tangy/tannic, and slightly slick/syrupy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.1%. Overall this is a fantastic sweetened fruit lambic! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of strawberries, fruity/earthy yeast, pale malt, and candi sugar sweetness; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Reminds me a lot of the New Glarus fruit beers I have had before. Super jammy and authentic strawberry fruit presence; balanced sweetness and mild wild yeast notes. Never overly sweet/heavy with adequate dryness. Definitely one of the best sweetened lambics I've ever had. A highly enjoyable offering.

i like these lindemans beers, but this strawberry is not their strongest effort, at least at a lambic enthusiast would have to say, for me, this is just way too sweet, and as good as the strawberry is, natural and dominant in here, i think it comes along so sugary that its hard to get through even a small pour of this, not nearly enough acid to cut this, wood to mellow it, or funk to spread out some nuance through it. very tall and rising white head on it in the glass, a pretty pinkish red underneath, good carbonation is evident. it smells and tastes like liquified strawberry jam, the deep blood red kind that has the little whole strawberries in it, the preserves, its seriously spot on. there is a soft tang like the fresh ones have too, but more from the faint lambic base than anything else. its really appealing to me, desserty sure, even mouth watering, but i do wish for a more robust lambic at the base of this, i get very little yeast character, wood, or grain, and so it ends up more like something to pour over a cheesecake than a beer, but nobody can say the strawberry flavor isnt fantastic. fun beer to sip a little bit of, but this is not the kind of lambic you can make an evening of. one of the sweetest i have had from lindemans...

From the bottle, it pours a hazy light pinkish red with a lightly pink head. Definite scent of Strawberry in the nose. The mouth gets a nice kick of strawberry with the classic sour lambic flavor in the end. Nice!
