From notes during the Oktoberfest Beer Dinner...
Appears a semi-transparent golden orange with a small white cap that slowly fades into a gentle collar. Spotty bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of roasted pumpkin, ginger, brown sugar, cinamon, pepper, toasted nuts, cracked grain, and fruity hints of yeast.
Taste is of the aromas with a more subdued flavor. The pumpkin is there but very mild, and the ginger seems to creep through just a tad to overthrow the other spicings other than the cinnamon, which is a must.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied, dry, and slightly thin in the finish. This is a tough style b/c the proteins from the pumpkin aid the yeast during fermentation sometimes leading to a drier beer.
Overall, certainly not a bad beer and surely one that I would come back to. If tweaked, it can be great.
